Memorable Days Out With Marthas Vineyard Fishing Charters

By Jeanette Riggs

Marthas Vineyard fishing charters are becoming more and more popular every year. They offer one of the best ways to get out and enjoy some fresh air, fun and great companionship. Even someone who has never fished before will be able to join in and will feel like a seasoned fisherman within the first hour.

One of the most important things to do is to look for an experienced captain. These men have been on the water all their lives and really know how to read the weather conditions, find the fish and make sure everyone comes home happy. They are professional and friendly, displaying the right combination of humor and skill.

Some of the larger boats can carry up to forty people. These vessels are perfect for company picnics or big groups. For a smaller and more intimate trip there are plenty of boats in the twenty to twenty five foot category that can provide an excellent day out on the water. Children are welcome on most boats and encouraged to try their hand at a little fishing too. The kids will be delighted to catch just as many fish as the grown ups.

Most people are fishing for striped bass. This is a great fish to eat as it has a mild taste and can be cooked in a variety of ways. Most captains will gut and clean the fish as they are caught and wrap them in ice so the clients can take them home. Some boats are even fitted with a barbecue grill so that the guests can cook up some freshly caught fish for an open air lunch.

Many boats also have cooking facilities on board so that eager fishermen can have some of their freshly caught fish for lunch. There is nothing like a delicious lunch eaten on the deck with good friends and a great crew. The fresh air seems to make everyone very hungry and the captain will have brought plenty of extra food and drink along.

It is possible to charter a boat for a half day, full day or even an overnight trip. Those who have never been out on a boat before should let the captain know so that he can plan to stay in sheltered waters. The more experienced fishermen will probably want to head out to sea and will not be put off by high seas or even storms.

Fly fishing is another popular alternative that requires a lot of skill. Anyone interested should be sure to find a very experienced captain to teach them this wonderful skill. Fishing for shark out in open waters is also a fun and exciting day.

Spending time out on a boat is the perfect way to relax and unwind. Great friends, food and fishing just go together. Marthas Vineyard fishing charters are able to provide a great day out that is suitable for complete beginners up to experienced anglers.
