Expect Great Things From A Bed And Breakfast In Michigan

By Jennie Sandoval

Most people who travel regularly will admit that they would rather stay at a B&B than at a hotel. Generally this is because of the service which they get at the B&B. The room is usually fitted with a very comfortable bed as well as a fridge with a kettle for making coffee and or tea. The linen is changed every day and the service is personal. If you are looking to book a stay at a bed and breakfast in Michigan, it may be wise to know what you are in for before arriving.

B&B hostesses are really kind, generous people who are willing to go out of their way to please you. They will even run errands for you if you ask them. In general, a B&B is a more homely experience. You do not get the same feeling at a hotel where you are one of many guests.

The hostess is usually the one who does the cooking for the guest house. She will even make specialty foods for breakfast if you like. One of the many advantages of staying at a B&B is that your time is your own. You are not restricted to eating between set hours of the day, you can have your breakfast served at any time you wish.

A farmhouse breakfast is usually served at a B&B and includes eggs, toast, sausage, tomato and cereal. You are not limited to the amount of food that is served and the hostess will always be there to offer you more if you so desire. Along with this there will be fresh fruit juice as well as tea and coffee.

Generally one stays over at a bed and breakfast for a day or two. Usually, no longer than 5 days are spent at such a place. However, due to the excellent service, one is always tempted to prolong their stay.

A B&B does come with a cost though and they do tend to be a little more expensive than a hotel. This is simply because of the quality of the place you are looking at staying at. A bed and breakfast will usually be close to a famous landmark or heritage sight which may be in the tranquility of the suburbs, while a hotel will be on the out skirts, close to an airport and road route which is busy and bustling with traffic.

Often you will find that a B&B is near a heritage site. Hotels are situated along busy bus routes and near the air port. One does not always want to spend a night trying to relax, however, unable to due to the sound of cars on the freeway.

Having praised the B&B though, one must also be aware of the negatives. There is a small possibility that you will meet up with someone else who is staying at the B&B who is a little too chatty for your liking. Some people do not seem to know when to stop. If you are looking at booking a few days at a bed and breakfast in Michigan, then make sure you know what to expect, as you do not want to arrive and feel uncomfortable, although this is highly unlikely.
