Money Saving Student Group Travel

By Kathryn Neal

Many students like to travel but traveling can be very expensive. There are a few ways to reduce your travels costs, and we like to spread the word around when we find new ideas and ways to save money. Student group travel is one way to save money as travelling in groups is much cheaper per person than trying to move as a single. Here are a number of other ways to save while travelling.

Staying in hotels is way too expensive for us, hostels are much better options. Besides they are great places to stay with larger numbers, and wonderful places to meet people from all over the world. We have made friends from Australia and France, and Britain and the USA in our travels in Europe just by staying in hostels. The costs here are low too.

The meals are very simple, usually just cereal and toast or something like that; with perhaps the option of buying a packed lunch in places where lunches are not easily available. These hostels are not usually open during the day time since people are usually out exploring during the day this is not usually important. It is also important to clarify that these places are not the same as homeless shelters; these are for paying residents only.

Students generally do not mind a little discomfort when travelling, and this may allow you to take advantage of the extreme discount airplane travels. There are a number airlines which offer extremely low fares and this can really cut down on hour costs. Booking in a group may also cut down on the cost of traveling by plane or by train.

Many countries and even much of Europe offer train passes, which are much cheaper for those still in the education world. Britain offers the Britpass, and Europe offers the Europass. Both have a vastly reduces cost for those still studying. Take advantage of these offers, and you and your friends can save even more money if you travel together.

Attending or going to attractions, can cost a good deal of money, but if you pay as more than one person, then you can usually save money. Most European attractions will give discounts for more than 5 or 7 people. So if you are not more than 7, then wait around and collect a few more studious people and say you are together, and save even more money! Make sure you take your proof of studentship because they will often ask for it.

Travelling by bikes is a great money saver. You can see the countryside. Meet people you would not normally have met. Moreover, you will be able to travel easily in larger than normal groups. This is a wonderful way to travel.

These are just some suggestions of how student group travel can save you money when you head out from home into the wide world. Keep these ideas in mind when you are planning and you are sure to save money. Moreover, remember to have fun!
