Visit Sharm on Day Trips Around Egypt

By Steve Alexander

For a modern adventure in Egypt, look no further than Sharm el Sheikh. The city of peace offers everything a vacationer would want from 21st century travel. With a coastal strip along the Red Sea, Sharm was founded as a diving resort, and snorkelling and scuba diving remains one of the main attractions, welcoming visitors from all parts of Egypt.

For hundreds and thousands of years, many species of shark have inhabited the area, such as grey reef, leopard sharks, hammerheads and whale sharks. These are best seen from submarine tours, which take place frequently, and prove enjoyable day trips for the entire family. These expeditions start at the ethereal underwater reefs and explore hundreds of kaleidoscopic schools of fish and coral types, and many other underwater surprises along the way.

Whether you stay at luxury retreats in Cairo, or all inclusive hotels in Luxor, if you love to party and mix with like-minded revellers, a day or two spent in Sharm is definitely recommended. The resort is praised for being one of the fastest growing social and nightlife scenes.

Catering to a range of different music tastes, there are many bars and clubs to discover. With clubs including Little Buddha, the Pangaea club, and the ever popular Pacha chain, the scene here has even been described as the 'Magaluf of Egypt'.

If you want to visit Sharm for the day, but are not into clubbing, there is still plenty on offer. The promenade is one of the best locations in Egypt for shopping, with many high end boutiques, quaint cafes and indulgent eateries. This is a resort where east really meets west, offering a balance between tradition and modernity. The promenade's fortuitous location, next to the seafront, means there is always fresh seafood on sale, as well as other cuisines, such as Lebanese, Italian and Chinese.
