By Marci Glover

Gone are the days when people would only rent cars for vocational transportation. These days things have completely changed and the car rental industry has grown by leaps and bounds. The number of people who rent cars from neighborhood locations has tremendously grown. And there are a host of reasons why people rent cars from the neighborhood locations; some of them just need extra large trucks to facilitate a move across the town. Others are looking for comfy hauler for cross country family trips and so forth. Regardless of the reason why you need to rent a car, one thing that remains the same is the need for a good deal. By considering the following factors during car rentals in Miami, you will increase your chances of landing the best deals.

You first need to think carefully about the kind of vehicle you will want. If you are traveling with children or a lot of gear, it may be necessary to rent a large sedan. On the other hand, if you only want to save money on rental rates and gas, a small car would help.

You should also avoid pick up or drop off at the airport. If you can skip the car rental desk at the airport, you will be saving in excess of 10 % of the rental fee. Airport kiosks usually charge inflated pick up and drop off prices. It is often easy to find rental companies within a mile or two from the airport and at a much reduced price.

You should also try to make reservations early. It is not just a cliche that early bird catches the worm. It does and usually gets the worm at a much reduced price. In most companies, rates usually depend on the number of cars the company still has on the parking lot and the rental time, so the earlier the better. Ensure you reserve you car at least two weeks in advance.

Car rental rates are never constant. They vary depending on demand. Because of this, continuous window shopping is crucial. It will enable you spot better deal. And remember that you are free to cancel your reservation up to the last minute and you will still get full refund. So if you find a better deal, you should not hesitate to grab it even if you have made reservation with another firm.

If your date of travel is a little bit flexible, you should avoid traveling within week days or towards end of the month. The demand for cars at these times is usually very high. This will in turn increase the rental charges.

Always ensure that you are adequately insured. On the flip side of the coin, you must avoid over insuring. During the rental, you will be offered collision damage waiver and also a loss damage waiver. Of course the two policies are good but not if they duplicate what you already have in your own cover.

If your hotel also offer car rental services, this will be a cheaper and more reliable option that you should not let go. You can also join a club especially if you rent cars regularly. Club members usually have some perks and privileges that other people do not enjoy.
