Golfing is never been denied as one of the most popular, breath-taking and challenging sport throughout the history of game championships. Histories commented that almost half of the unsurpassed player in 1973 was no other than Ben Crenshaw, who was also known as 'Gentle Ben.' The person behind some of the major gold awards and championships he had personally joined. "I don't think I could go on living unless I felt I could win one of the major championships." This was his final words when he decided to pursue his golfing career until he got promoted into a level where geniuses stayed and reigned.
Fatigue, restlessness and inability to work well - these were signs that felt by Ben after his major awards and championships that made him distant from the golf for a short period of time. He was diagnosed with a hyperactive thyroid problem or Grave's disease. Nevertheless, he did not stop to achieve victories when he came back to golfing, such as finishing the 1995 US PGA Masters tournment set of victories and 19 on the PGA. In 1999, he was chosen to be the captain of the Ryder Cup to play at The Country Club, Massachusetts. Criticisms about his leadership were observed when his team slipped to 10-6 defeats. However, he proved himself once again by giving the best shot in the Sunday Singles.
Ben Crenshaw, a Texan with great golfing skills and courageous spirit has been a winner in 1984 Masters. He led after the first round of the game and he trailed his fellow Texan Tom Kite by two shots. This battle was a challenge for both Texan stars, but more than a contest between two perpetual bridesmaids. Kite was known for his close fights and wins in the majors while Crenshaw had lost a play-off for the 1979 PGA Championship to David Graham. Nevertheless, the latter star finished equal second in the British Open in 1978 and 1979.
He won amateur fights such as the International Jaycee Golf Tournament (1968),1973 NCAA Championship, Western (1973), NCAA Championship, Sunnehanna Amateur, (1972) and continued his breath-taking fights by joining professional championships in San Antonio Texas Open(1973), Bing Crosby(1976), Hawaiian Open (1976), Ohio Kings (1976), Colonial National Invitation (1977), Phoenix Open (1979, Walt Disney World National Team Championship (1979), Anheuser-Busch Golf Classic Byron Nelson Golf Classic(1983), Masters Tournament (1984), Buick Open (1986) and Vantage Tournament (1986).
At a young age, Crenshaw showed how powerful he was in the field wherein challenging holes near the areas of luring perilous lakes and control over the game were needed. He won challenging honors and awarded as the top among the ten players of his generation. He was the hottest tour prospect since Jack Nicklaus and a superstar of his era after winning the San Antonio-Texas Open at the age of 21. He remained as the youngest winner, though Robert Gamez also did the same thing at Phoenix Open in 1990.
