Moving To Alameda County? Here Are Some Facts

If you are about to relocate to a city or town in California's Alameda County, one thing you will never have to worry about is finding something fun to do. This county boasts an enormous amount of attractions, and there is a little something for everyone. Along with Contra Costa County, Alameda County encompasses a unique area called East Bay.

More than 1.5 million people live in Alameda County, which is the seventh most populous county in California. There are 14 incorporated cities in this county as well as other unincorporated towns and neighborhoods. Many of the cities were founded during the 19th century, including Oakland, the county's largest city, which was incorporated in 1852, just after the Gold Rush.

Sports fans can enjoy year-round sporting events in Alameda County. For basketball lovers, you can head to Oracle Arena and watch the Golden State Warrior take on a variety of opponents. The Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum is home to the NFL's Oakland Raiders as well as the Oakland A's, who have won a total of nine World Series championships.

If you'd rather be participating in an athletic activity than sit as a spectator, then Alameda County has plenty of great options. The county is home to as many as 350 parks, some of which encompass thousands of acres with picnic and playground area, hiking and walking trails and more. There are plenty of places for tennis and about 25 golf courses in the county, as well. As the county borders the San Francisco Bay, there are also plenty of water-related activities.

Young scientists will enjoy the exhibits and events at the Chabot Space & Science Center as well as the Lawrence Hall of Science. There is a historic farm in Fremont, as well as a water park and a railroad museum.

Head inland a bit and you'll discover the towns of Pleasanton and Livermore. Pleasanton is often named as one of the best places to live in the United States. It's also one of the wealthiest cities in the country. Nearby Livermore is known for its many vineyards and wineries, and many are open for tastings and tours throughout the year.
