Riding In Style With A Pikeur Jacket

By Katrina Wheeler

Competitive horse trial riding needs to be carried out in the correct outfit and a Pikeur jacket is made with this in mind. Their jackets for women have a few variations in look and detail so a rider can find one that suits them best. Features that can vary from garment to garment include style, length, material and color. This ranges from traditional brown tweed to contemporary red soft shell jackets.

Men can buy their competition riding jackets from Pikeur, with a few selections available. These come in darker colors such as navy, grey and black. While the jackets available look similar in style there are a few noticeable differences. The number of pockets can vary, as can the length of the jacket and the style of the collar.

Pikeur is set up predominantly for the adult market although does provide an option for kids. The Skarlett competition jacket is designed for girls and is a shorter length garment made from washable material. Girls have the option of a navy or black color and can change the plain collar to velvet for a little added style.

Dressage is a specialized part of horse trials that requires its own specific outfit. The jackets are more commonly called tails and Pikeur offers these for male and female competitors. The colors are distinctly dark as dressage dictates, with navy or black the options to choose from. Dressage jackets for both men and women are made in wool or a wool/polyester mix.

Pikeur does not focus entirely on competition outfits and also stocks casual jackets. These are designed to keep riders comfortable, with fleece or quilted down jackets keeping out the cold while those with hoods provide a little head protection. They are not only designed to be practical though, with styles such as blousons also being fashionable. The casual range is predominantly for ladies although gents will find one or two for them.

Riding in the rain does not necessarily have to be uncomfortable, with wet weather gear designed to make it more bearable. Pikeur waterproof jackets are made with keeping a rider dry in mind. The taped seams, as well as the elasticized sleeves and waist help to keep water out. The integrated hood will also keep the head drier.

Taking the style from the stables to everyday life is possible, with the company offering clothing intended for use away from riding. Ladies can do this with the stylish Latessa jacket. This three-quarter length jacket looks good matched with riding or other clothing and is meant for cold weather wear. Practical features include four large pockets, a back vent for comfort and a stand-up collar with draw cord.

A ready made Pikeur jacket is the simplest and quickest way to buy. Most of their competition and casual jackets are available off-the-rack in all sizes to suit small to large body shapes. However, they also offer the chance to customize their competition jackets and this can be a way to add some unique touches so that a rider can personalize their outfit.
