Champagne Sailing On New Yachts

By Aaron Linebarger

Yacht Columbus Sport Hybrid 40m: The latest reports from the Palumbo Shipyard in Naples, Italy demonstrate that the 40m Columbus Sport Hybrid Project is progressing at a rate of knots. With the all-aluminum hull and superstructures now all but complete, the focus of attention is turning toward the interior fit out, conceived by Hot Lab Yacht & Design in Milan in conjunction with the shipyard and owner.

Yacht Jongert 3200P: Our favorite feature is the direct access to a private terrace from the owner's suite and an aft bulkhead that will be built predominantly out of glass, providing immense sea views and an abundance of natural light. This is a theme that runs throughout the yacht, with tall vertical windows below decks providing light and views to guest staterooms, while the upper deck superstructure features full height glazed windows. At the stern, the yacht's twin helm stations dominate the spacious main deck cockpit, which is intended to integrate entertainment and navigation functions, enabling guests to feel close to the action, if they wish.

Yacht Columbus Sport Hybrid 40m: In line with the green theme of the yacht, all the woods selected for the Columbus Sport Hybrid 40m are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified to ensure eco-sustainability while the leather, selected from a by-product of the meat industry, is treated with a special non-toxic water painting process. With further details emerging of the interior layout, we can see a fully equipped bar serving the cockpit and salon on the main deck, while the forward portion of the salon features a dining area with eight covers.

Yacht Columbus Sport Hybrid 40m: According to Romano, diners will be seated around the custom table on eight comfortable compact armchairs, supplied by Moroso. Two large windows frame the salon itself and the airy atmosphere is further enhanced by two large sliding glass doors and opening bulwarks to better enjoy uninterrupted views of the ocean. While the owner enjoys well-lit on-deck staterooms, down below guest enjoy equally well-appointed cabins.

Yacht Columbus Sport Hybrid 40m: On the upper deck the relaxing atmosphere is enhanced by two huge sofas, more than 55" deep Romano tells us, chosen from the Diesel collection by Moroso. Being the first in the Columbus range from the mighty Palumbo Group, we look forward to inspecting her fully on launching. In keeping with the environmentally responsible ethos of the lightweight hybrid yacht, Hot Lab has revealed that where possible environmentally sustainable materials will be used in the interior.

Yacht Dubois 101m Sloop: This yacht has 410' mast and 137' boom. The UK design firm Dubois Naval Architects unveiled design proposal for a remarkable 101m sailing sloop in early 2012. By the beginning of 2013, the contract had been sold and construction was due to start as INVICTUS went to print. It is the firm's largest yacht to date, and will be the largest sloop-rigged sailing yacht in the world upon completion.

Yacht Dubois 101m Sloop: The commission came from an existing Dubois client who wanted more than just a megayacht capable of transoceanic cruising. He wanted an explorer, with plenty of dedicated space for tenders, spares, and other equipment. That's a design brief better-suited to the power yacht sector, but one that has crossed over rather well. Design 380 is not only impressive for her size, however.

Yacht Miss Tor 40m Schooner Orucoglu build yachts between 140' and 270'. They've been active in the mega yacht sector since the turn of the 21st century. Delivery of the Miss Tor 40m Schooner is scheduled for June 2013. Here are her specifications: LOA: 131' (40M), BEAM: 24' (7.5M), DRAFT: 6' (1.8M), GROSS TONNAGE: 165 GT, ENGINES: 2 x 450 HP MAN MARINE, CRUISING SPEED: 14- KNOTS, MAXIMUM SPEED: 16 KNOTS, GUESTS: 10, STATEROOMS: 5, BUILDER: ORUCOGLU SHIPYARD
