When Visiting Queens Charlotte Islands Accommodations Are No Problem

When visiting Queens Charlotte Islands accommodations are readily available to suit just about any budget and taste. This magnificent holiday spot is located at the north coast of British Columbia. It is less than a hundred kilometers from the American border and approximately 750 kilometers by air from Vancouver. The Haida Gwaii, as they are also known is about 300 kilometers long and a hundred wide.

Although Haida Gwaii consist of more than a hundred and fifty distinct isles the two main isles, Graham Island and Moresby Island is the most densely populated. The combined population of all the isles is approximately 50000 people that live in small communities, each with a unique culture and heritage. The main isles are inter connected with a daily ferry service.

Moresby Isle is home to the Haida Gwaii Hanaas National Park Reserve, a must for all visitors to the area. This park boasts spectacular coastal scenery and much has been done to preserve the ancient Haida culture. In fact, there are more than five hundred separate Haida historical and archeological sites in the park. The park is jointly managed by the Council of the Haida Nation and the Canadian Parks Board.

There is much to do on the isles. Golfing enthusiasts will be surprised by the world class courses and other sports facilities. Many visitors enjoy deep sea fishing expeditions or they simply enjoy the magnificent scenery by touring the area by boat. Floating planes allow tourists to experience some of the most breathtaking vistas. It is even possible to book leisurely cruises on sailing boats.

The Haida people have a long and rich art history and there are many excellent artists living on the isles. Visitors to the many galleries and museums are impressed by how well art works have been preserved and it is customary to buy at least one work from a current artists. Larger works, such as prayer poles are shipped to any part of the world.

There are many places to stay on the isles. At the upper end of the market there are several world class yet reasonably priced hotels. There are also a number of bed and breakfast establishments and it is even possible to camp or to rent a rustic cabin. There are many fine restaurants catering to every possible taste and budget and it is even possible to shop at modern malls.

When planning a trip to the Haida Gwaii getting there is easy. There are several airlines that operate flights from British Columbia but it is also possible to go by ferry. A lot of visitors to the isles go there with their own boats. There are several safe mooring facilities for private yachts. The isles boast a robust tourism information center and booking can easily be done online.

Queens Charlotte Islands accommodations will delight and surprise visitors. There are facilities catering for just about every possible need and budget. Tourists are offered a wide diversity of activities and the natural scenery is spectacular. The isles are easily accessible and they offer truly affordable holidays.
