What To Expect In Mongolian Tours

By Janelle Burnett

Mongolia is a country sandwiched between two large countries, China and Russia. The country is situated on vast mountains and plateaus perfect for Mongolian tours. Although the country is on the verge of modernization, a sizable amount of the population remains in the nomadic communities. It is also considered one of the driest countries which is a big thing because the economy depends on the agricultural aspect of the country.

A large area of the country is said to be ruled by vast nomadic empires which and the most popular of them all is Genghis Khan, father of the Mongol empire. Another figure that was also important in the history was Kublai Khan. Grandson of the founder of the Mongol Empire. It was said that it was Kublai Khan who founded the Yuan dynasty.

The country was formed under the rule of Genghis Khan in the twelve hundreds. The empires usually consisted of vast nomadic empires. The empire was usually ridden with internal tension and conflict among the empires and there was no proper leadership that too place. It would be the best thing that they can do for them.

The empire is said to have gained power through Genghis Khan and his sons. Throughout the rule of Genghis, the Mongolian empire have conquered most of Asia. It is believed that he had a thousand concubines and hundreds of wives. This is mainly the reason why most of the world population may find themselves related to Genghis Khan.

However, when the country fell under the communism rule in the twentieth century, religious practices fell. The repression of the religions and other practices related to it have been tightly connected with the government structures. After the fall of communism in the nineties, the religious practiced resumed. Christianity also spread across the country.

The capital city, Ulan Bator, along with the rest of the country may be subject to the harsh climactic conditions like the zud. This is a term which refers to an extremely snowy winter. It is during this time that large amount of animals die as a result of cold and starvation. Harsh zuds causes economic crises on a country that relies heavily on pastoral farming.

The country ranks about a hundred and thirty eight in the world in terms of the population. Majority of the groups are composed of the Khalka group and makes up the rest of the ethnic Mongol people. People can be distinguished by the dialect that they speak. Only four percent of the country are composed by Russian, Chinese, Korean and American nationalities.

The country had ties with the Soviet Union which once had a twenty year treaty of friendship and cooperation. This allowed the country to call on the Soviet Union army in the event of an invasion. Border clashes with China was also prevalent during the time the Soviets had a dispute with China.

Many Mongolian Tours can last for three days at least. Although there are packages that last for a couple of weeks. This mainly involves the touring of the cities and the nomadic sites. If tourists are lucky, they get to participate in the summer festival in the country.
