Astrology and Spiritual Events in London

By William Lear

Looking back over a past year is always filled with bittersweet memories. As well as the good times, you can't help but to reflect on the bad, on the things you wish you could change and the people you have lost along the way. I have lost some very close family members and friends this past year; people who, without a doubt, have left holes that simply cannot be filled. But the world has also lost some of its greatest and most influential figures of the last century too. Dear or 'celebrity', what I'm really talking about are those astonishing folk who, in some small way, have helped to shape the lives of many, far and wide, across this globe of possibility.

In my opinion, three of the greatest inspirational figures of our time passed away in 2012.The first was Roy Bradbury, an enormously influential writer of speculative fiction and perhaps one of the brightest lights of the golden age of science. The second, was none other than the legendary explorer, astronaut and pioneer, Neil Armstrong. His famous 'small step' will always be remembered as a 'giant leap' for mankind. And as for the third, how could I not mention our brilliant and unforgettable Sir Patrick Moore? For it was his incredible longevity as a television presenter that single-handedly did more to foster interest in the field of astronomy than anything else, especially this side of the Atlantic. He also was a firm believer that the 'answers to the riddles' of existence lay in the heavens

So, when you ask me to look back over 2012, and I remember those we have lost, a common denominator springs to mind. Sir Patrick Moore, Neil Armstrong and Ray Bradbury, as well as other men and women like them, all sought to expand our human horizons. They helped us to ponder our frailty, our mortality and our seeming insignificance within the cosmos order. Interestingly, they also inculcated within us a deep sense of spiritual wonder and question.

But this isn't the end!

Furthermore, if you really want to pay homage to them, there are a number of classes that you can actively get involved with. Take Home House of Portman Square for example, they recently put on their own special 'Evening with The Stars'. Led by Carolyne Faulkener, chief translator for the stars and planets, the event was nothing short of fantastical with its exploration of both astrology on the one hand and spiritual understanding on the other.
