The Best Travel Tips For Your Dream Vacation

By Kate Toohey

No matter what mode of transportation you choose, you will be sure to find some helpful travel tips here.

When packing your bags for a trip, you should roll your clothing instead of trying to fold it. This will save you a lot of space in your luggage. When you reach your destination, you can simply unroll the clothes and fold them normally if you wish. Hopefully, this will decrease your burden of luggage.

When traveling to other countries, you need to check and make sure you have the proper paperwork and visas to travel in and through them. Obtain the correct visas for each country you will be visiting. Some visas will not give you access to certain countries. Your travel agent may have current information. Additionally, the embassy website of the country you are visiting may be helpful.

The bell hop and housekeeper should be tipped appropriately. People generally recommend a buck per bag for the bellhop and $2-5 per day for the maid. Tipping will show your appreciation for their work, and will help you maintain a good relationship with hotel staff.

When traveling with dogs, give them a quick brushing before getting in the car. An animal shedding in your car will cover your seats with hair and can also impact your car's heating and cooling system. Take care to pack everything that your dog will need for the trip, such as a leash, water dish, and cleanup bags.

Never wrap the presents. If the TSA is suspicious about something, they will be forced to open your presents. Do not worry about the problem; simply plan ahead. Either buy wrapping paper when you arrive, or bring your own along.

When you are traveling, it is important to remember to be aware of your vital belongings at all times. For example, if you have a purse with you, you should ensure it is securely underneath your arm. Also, do not use bags that someone can easily open on a crowded subway or in another crowded public area. Make sure to consider this advice when purchasing a dependable travel bag.

Educate yourself on the current political and social situations of a country before you visit it. Be sure that the country you are from has an embassy in the country you plan to visit and that affairs have been positive for some time. This will help you avoid potentially dangerous situations.

Contact lens cases are a useful container for traveling. You can fill these with a little gel or lotion so you do not have to bring the entire bottle with you.
