Flavors You Can Have in Hookah

By John McCree

Looking for the perfect hookah flavor for you? This post reveals a number of good resources for you in deciding and purchasing your ideal shisha flavor.

Hookahs are used to smoke flavorful tobacco, normally referred to as "shisha". Common, modern-day shisha is made up of some or all of the following ingredients:

1. Tobacco

2. Treacle (uncrystallized syrup produced in refining sugar)

3. Honey

4. Sugar

5. Molasses

6. Glycerin

7. Nicotine

8. Dried Fruit

9. Distilled Water

Despite the fact that today's most well-known shisha manufacturers have become very creative with their flavors, like Starbuzz's "Blue Mist" or Fantasia's "Cuban Mojito", the mainstay hookah flavors remain fruit flavors such as Apple, Banana, or Mango. The majority of newer flavors do, however, take their cues from the tried and true traditional fruit flavors. For instance, Blueberry Muffin or Pink Lemonade clearly have their roots in a fruity base.

There are many different shisha flavors available nowadays because it is quite simple to add flavors during the production. The dried tobacco, glycerin, and sweetener can be blended with basically any other ingredients to create different flavors.

Social Smoking

Hookah is generally shared in a social environment where the smokers may gather for pleasant chat and to enjoy the scent created by the flavored shisha smoke. Once hookah became very popular in the Middle Eastern nations, every single social establishment started serving hookahs. One can easily find hookahs in night clubs, smoking parlors, hookah bars and even in homes nowadays.

Most of the growing popularity of shisha can be credited to the flavor and soothing effect of the smoke. People smoke hookah in social gatherings with the primary purpose of socializing with friends and not out of addiction. On the other hand cigarette first of all, has a really bad smell and smokers usually smoke cigarette because of addiction. A cigarette undoubtedly lasts no more than 5 minutes and a shisha lasts for more than an hour, but the latter is not addictive.

Getting the Most Flavor from Your Hookah

To get the most out of your hookah you don't need much, but just some good common sense and a strong sense of discipline. For starters, cleaning and maintaining your device correctly is a must. You should wash your hookah meticulously with warm water after every use.

If you want to enjoy a smooth smoking session then you should stop the charcoal from burning the tobacco in the middle of the session. This can be done by maintaining some distance between the foil and tobacco. When you're packing the bowl, leave some millimeters between the top of your tobacco and the plane made by the rim of the bowl. So that when you wrap the aluminum foil, there is distance between the tobacco and the aluminum foil. One more tactic that you can use to keep distance between foil and the tobacco is to put two toothpicks in cross on the tobacco. Also, when "packing" the bowl, don't pack the tobacco down firmly. You should put the tobacco in loose mound from which air can pass. Doing this, you will be able to get a flavorful hit without needing to strongly puff on the hose. If desired you may also use two sheets of foil to help prevent against overheating. The name of the game here is: KEEP IT THOROUGHLY CLEAN AND DON'T BURN THE SHISHA!
