Whales are large, gentle creatures that fascinate people from all over the world. For those who love whale watching Boston has fun activities for tourists to do. Prices vary with each company that offers this service. You can research the rates before you embark on this journey which could take a few hours out of your day.

Some species of whales are threatened or endangered, do seeing one in the wild is a real treat. Fortunately anti-whaling groups have helped curtail the killing somewhat and many species are now rebounding in numbers. The populations near Cape Cod are relatively stable and are not harvested by commercial whalers.

Once sighted, a big whale can take your breath away. Witnessing a large one breaching the ocean surface is a major adrenaline rush. A breaching adult is one of the most impressive sights in all of nature. If your boat is too close you might even get splashed with the displaced sea water created from the breach.

Try to plan ahead to choose the best season and be aware that coastal weather can be unpredictable. Rain gear and layers of clothing are advised as is sun screen.

Your identification might be needed as well such as an AARP card, a driver's license or a student ID card. This can save you some money that can then be spent on something else like refreshments.
