Discounts For Your Disney World Trip

By Judy Miller

Disney World offers discounted packages throughout the year, but it is important that you book your trip as early as possible. The best seasons to find good discounted rates are usually fall and winter, holidays not included.

Value Season is actually a great time to visit Disney World - the Florida weather is mild and the crowds are minimal. Even if you will likely miss out on some seasonal attractions that might be closed, you will relax more and you will encounter less lines.

AAA is an excellent source of Disney World discounts. Many of the discounts include lower rates for park tickets, dining, and even shows. You can also take advantage of AARP rates in hotels that are not associated with Disney World.

These non-Disney accommodations, from economical to luxury, offer most of the same amenities as comparable Disney Hotels & Resorts and often have frequent-stay and other programs as well as competitive discounts on dining.

You can also find coupons and codes for restaurants, merchandise and attractions on the internet and through most travel agents. You can also find some of the dining upgrade promotions Disney routinely offers, either through Disney or through your travel agent.

Seasonal and Annual pass holders can take advantage of free admission to all theme parks, free parking, and discounts on attractions, dining and merchandise. Premium Annual Passes also include admissions to the nine-hole Oak Trail Golf Course, the two Disney water parks, and Disney Quest Indoor Interactive Theme Park.

Florida residents are eligible to obtain deeply discounted annual and season passes, single day tickets, and multiple day passes that can be used on any day, within six months of the first use, for admission to the theme parks and water parks. You will need to show proof of residency to qualify for the discounted passes.

Disney World also offers discounts for members of the U.S. military and their families with military ID. Shades of Green, a beautiful non-Disney luxury resort located conveniently on Disney World property, is exclusively for military personnel: active-duty (including National Guard and reservists), Department of Defense civilian employees, retired military with at least 20 years of service, and 100% disabled veterans. Honorably discharged veterans with less than 20 years of service can stay at Shades of Green during the months of January and September.

Accommodation rates vary depending on the guests' military salary. There is an AAFES store in the resort where guests will find reasonably priced Disney souvenirs, food, drinks, and other necessities. Disney discounts abound, and it is not too hard to find the ones your family can take advantage of.
