Shopping For Canvas Tents

By Beth Swanson

Many people who enjoy camping are often enthusiastic about the idea of using canvas tent on their trips. It is hard to predict nature and what it reserves for us. Canvas tents are sturdier and more durable than regular tents, and they are great for keeping the rain out. The way they are built, and the materials used in building them assure good quality and performance. Canvas tents are the number one choice of shelter for hunting and fishing trips.

Canvas tents have sturdier walls, roof and floor than average tents. The metal bars they come with make sure the tent stays in place. Canvas tents are built well enough to be worth every penny you pay for them. Canvas tents offer very heavy duty zippers and they are very spacious inside, with high ceilings and walls. The beauty of canvas tents is that they are wide enough to allow one to walk around, sit and stand straight. Campers in a canvas tent enjoy more room and much more comfort. This comes in very handy, especially for the taller individual.

You should definitely set a budget before you go forward with your purchase of a canvas tent. If you are conscious of your own financial limits, it will be easier to make some choices. The money you save can be used to purchase additional supplies you will probably need on your trip. Setting up a clear budget when you are gearing up for a large expense is always a good idea. You should remember that canvas tents are more expensive than the average tent, and they usually cost several hundred dollars. And if you are interested in features, the ones that offer added features can run up to $1,000.

There are a few bonus features to look for in canvas tents, including the presence of a back door to allow more air to circulate during the warm summer months and a tent bag for convenient storage and transportation. You should opt for a white canvas tent, since the color white tends to reflect light much better than other colors. And, before you decide on a particular tent, don't forget to think about the weight of the tent itself. Larger tents are understandably going to be heavier to carry and harder to set up, but if you think they are going to benefit your camping experience, then it shouldn't be a big deal. If a smaller lightweight tent will work for you, then consider that option as well.

Canvas tents are more expensive, but they are a true investment. A good quality tent which is properly taken care of, will last for many, many years. Now, that's a lot of camping.
