A Uganda Gorilla Safari Can Afford Tourists Unforgettable Experiences

By Dawn Bradford

A Uganda gorilla safari can afford tourists unforgettable experiences. Gorillas are our close relatives genetically and we have long had a fascination with them, as reflected in folklore, myth and literature. Seeing them in their primordial state is a privilege and a rare event in the life of a human being.

These apes are quite widely distributed across equatorial Africa. In the West they are found in low jungles and in the East in high mountainous regions. The mountainous environment that feeds the Nile in its early reaches is an interesting addition to the interest provided by the apes.

Africa has been the scene of human deficiencies in the past. Now, in common with other African states, Uganda is touted as an area of the world with a future as bright as its past was dark. Beyond the focus on the gorillas there is much else of interest.

An African safari has a long and fascinating history dating back to the days of Livingston and Stanley. Nowadays a safari is likely to be a well organized affair. Visitors are flown in, met by friendly guides and accommodated in comfortable lodges, guesthouses or hotels.

From luxury lodges tourists will be transported to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park. Discretion and sensitivity must be preserved because walking through the sensitive environment to see these creatures is not nearly the same as a visit to the zoo. Game viewing demands that tourists be unobtrusive so that wild animals can go about their daily routines undisturbed.

Tracking the gorillas under the supervision of well trained guards must be a delicate operation. In order for animals to remain wild they must be left undisturbed to a reasonable extent. A Uganda Gorilla safari must, by its nature be a high privilege. To creep through undergrowth and view these close relatives in their natural state is thrilling from several different perspectives. Eventually a great silver back may be seen, walking on his knuckles and protecting his family on the mountain slopes under precarious conditions. This will be an experience that will become a permanent memory. uganda gorilla safari
