Traveling Internationally To Get Wed In Fiji

By Ben Pate

Choosing to have a destination wedding overseas in Fiji can be an incredible event that you will remember for the rest of your life. Saving money on wedding is very important in these tough economic times. However, it can actually be cheaper, if you plan it right, to have a nontraditional wedding overseas as opposed to here in America. You must remember if you are going to be heading overseas, that you will need a valid Untied States passport in order to leave the country. If you need any passport services before you leave, like a U.S. passport name change, you can find a reputable passport agency online that will be able to assist you.

Passports

If you are thinking about having a destination wedding, it is crucial for everyone in your party to realize that they will need a valid United States passport. Thankfully, with internet passport agencies, it is now easier than ever for American citizens to get a valid United States passport. If you are already overseas, and have your passport stolen or you lose it, you will need to get a replacement passport before you will be allowed to reenter the United States of America. Again, you must remember if you are going to be going overseas that you will need to show customs officials your pasport before you will be allowed out of the country.

International Travel

Fiji is located in Melanesia and is an island country. Fiji can be found in the South Pacific Ocean. It is one of the most beautiful and pristine locations in the entire world. If you are thinking about having a destination wedding, you could do a lot worse than Fiji. There are many incredible and fun activities to take part in while you are visiting Fiji. Again, if you are trying to decide where to go overseas to get married, you should consider taking a look at what Fiji has to offer.

Getting Married In Fiji

When it comes to getting married in Fiji there are many things to think about. A marriage in Fiji is considered valid in the United States. Couples can apply for a marriage license when they arrive in Fiji, and there is virtually no waiting period. No blood tests are required either. Couples will, in fact, need valid passports, and birth certificates are even better. If a member of the couple is under the age of 21 they will need a letter of parental consent. If divorced from a previous spouse a decree of dissolution is needed in order to get married in Fiji.

Visiting Fiji

After the wedding takes place there are various other thing to do and to see and activities to engage in. Some sites include the Garden of the Sleeping Giant as well as the Fiji Museum. The Garden is the original garden of Raymond Burr and it's a beautiful array of orchids and flowers native to Fiji. The Fiji Museum gives insight into the historical background of Fiji, and even features artifacts from 3,700 years ago. It is a great way to learn more about the Fijian history and culture. In addition to those sites there are extensive White-water rafting tours available as well as sea kayaking trips.
