The Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path National Trail mixes two contrasting paths, every one of which is a superb walk in its own right. The Peddars Way is a fine country walk from Knettishall Heath close to the old market city of Thetford to Hunstanton on north Norfolk's Heritage Coast. It is an enjoyable mix of country lanes, footpaths and tracks covering 93 miles (149km) thru a diverse landscape of open heath and meres, woodland, rich farmland divided by flower-filled hedgerows and pretty flint and carrstone hamlets.
The Norfolk Coast Path runs from the Victorian resort of Hunstanton to the busy port of Cromer, the hub of Norfolk's crab fishing industry, along a coastline that's feted for its remoteness and wild beauty. It is a splendidly various landscape of sweeping golden beaches, grass tufted dunes, saltings, reed beds, streams, tidal inlets and immaculate towns that claim a maritime tradition that saw them send battleships to repel the Spanish Armada.
Impressive stately homes, monasteries, medieval castles, standard windmills that once ground flour or pumped water to keep the fertile fens from vanishing underneath the sea, the spectacular seal colonies at Blakeney Point and the fertile birdlife along the coast add to the charm of this pretty National Trail.
