The Experienced Traveler's Guide To San Antonio

By Alex Johnson

If you know anything about San Antonio, then you more than likely are well aware of its humongous zoo, the very popular and massively visited Alamo, and maybe the wax museum, the sea world and the six flags fiesta. Those are all very great things, and I won't dissuade you from visiting them. I am going to however suggest a few other things to do that you might not have considered.

First, if you're a golfer, you will be happy to learn this city offers quite a few excellent courses. Some of them include the golf club of texas, the Olmos Basin golf course, the Blossom golf center, the canyon springs golf center, the Oak Hills country club, the Rolling Oaks golf center, the Cedar Creek golf course, the Alamo golf course, the willow springs golf course, and the San Antonio country club.

If you're of an artisan nature or just in the fine arts, this city has you covered once again! The obvious first mention is having a visit with mister Gougin and mister Picasso over at the McNay art museum. Next, a general stroll through the artisan disctrict known as la villita might also suit you. If you're into freebies, go check out the always free exhibitions at the southwest school of art & craft.

If you still want to do museums, but have had enough of art, then I suggest giving the Scobee Planetarium a visit. For those more into airplanes, you can check out the Texas air museum, and hey you might even like the related Texas transportation museum. If you want to see a fairly good science and natural history museum, be sure to give the Witte museum a stroll as well.

If you like taking strolls through time, La Villita, the city's oldest neighborhood deserves a primary mention. If you're in the same spirit of seeing old architecture, see the Stevens building, which is a remnant of the 19th century commercial district, and please also pay a visit to the Staacke Brothers building and the Spanish governor's place.
