Millions of people go camping every year and that number is not about to drop. With more and more people going camping every single year the number of people going hiking is also going to increase along with it. If you like to go on hikes then you need to be prepared for whatever might come your way because that is how a real hiker prepares for things.
As a hiker you need more than good boots, you need to have all your goodies just in case things don't go according to plan. When it comes to hiking you need to have everything just in case something doesn't go according to plan and that is why I have put together a small list of things that you need just in case you have to spend the night in the wilderness or camp out for a while.
Items Every Hiker Should Have
Backpack - Having a backpack is really only important to carry everything that you need. When you are going hiking you want to have both hands free and the only way to do that is to have a backpack to carry all your stuff in.
Waterproof Matches - If you do get stuck out in the forest or wherever you are hiking then you will need a way to stay warm and possibly cook something and that is why having matches is important. The whole point of bringing waterproof matches is so that you are not trying to light a fire with wet matches because those will take a long time to light and by then who knows what could happen.
Poncho - Whenever you are out in the forest you need to have a poncho just in case it rains. The reason they are important is because they will keep you dry and make sure you don't get sick.
Bottled Water - Whenever you are walking around you should have bottled water. This is just in case you get thirsty. Now I am pretty sure I don't need to tell you what all the water is right, right?
Compass - No hiker should be without a compass and if you are then you should not be hiking. I know this might be a little more than you need but I would take at least 2 compasses just in case.
Flashlight - When you are hiking you need more than 1 flashlight. I would highly recommend that you have 2 flashlights, a smaller pocket sized flashlight and a bigger one that has a few different modes on it.
If you want to make sure you are safe then taking all of these things with you is a must. I would highly recommend that you check your backpack before every trip because you don't want to start hiking and not have something important with you.
