Turkish Airlines - A Serious Player in the International Airline Industry

Turkish Airlines has been a member of the Star Alliance network of airlines since April of 2008. The airlines have in excess of fifteen thousand employees and are headquartered in Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul Turkey. Recently, Turkish Airlines has gotten a lot of prestige awards. One of these awards was received from Skytrax because it supplies the highest rated Economy Class flight food service in the business. In addition, the airline was tagged as Europe's fastest growing airline. No one should be amazed by this because of the number of years that profits have grown in a row.

In late March, 2011, Turkish Airlines will begin service to Valencia Spain and will be the start of weekly service on each of four days. The following month will also see an additional route, namely Malaga, Spain to Istanbul. That schedule will operate three times per week. These routes are in addition to the existing Barcelona and Madrid routes. But that is merely the start of what will be a busy year for the Turkish flag carrier. The airline will be subject to intense expansion throughout the rest of the year, with many routes expected to be opened up. For example, a few months later there will be inaugural flights to France for Toulouse, Lyon, Paris and Nice. Therefore, the airline will have a total of 175 international routes in its schedule and the year has barely begun. October 2010 was a very active month of Turkish Airlines. It was at this time that the airlines flew the first Boeing 777-300ER Extended Range aircraft. The airline leader ordered a dozen of the new Boeing 777-300ER modern technological extended range aircrafts. Actually, Turkish Airlines is not hiding that it plans to get into the competitive US and Asian markets. They have long term goals to quickly grow all over the world. Everything about Turkish Airlines indicates that it is using the best resources to its benefit. This can be seen by the services they provide.

Turkish Airlines signed a curious marketing partnership with Caroline Wozniacki, the world's number one women's tennis player in late 2010.

The airline has clearly aimed at increasing their brand recognition on an international scale. Turkish Airlines now have Miss Wozniacki as their representative for the Business Class Service. The women's number one ranked player will reach out to mainly European tennis lovers as the spokesperson for airlines. The player will star in commercials for the airline and appear at public relations events throughout the course of her three year contract.

The Turkish airlines marketing success allows them the ability to diversify their marketing efforts.

Both US coasts appear to be serviced by Turkish Airlines. This makes it easy to travel to new destinations. The airline has, or soon will be, offering multi-weekly services to Washington DC and Los Angeles, both of which are major hubs for international travel.
