A Roof Tent Is One of the Finest Tents You Can Purchase

If you love camping then you've got plenty of options. Camping is probably one of the most wonderful ways to spend time with your family and to introduce your children to the delights of the outdoors.

But of course if you love camping you need good camping equipment. Camping gear must include some form of tent or somewhere else to sleep. Your accommodation might be in a caravan or some form of recreational vehicle, but my preference is always a good old fashioned.

In the past a tent was a tent. However there are very clever people have come up with some ingenious variations on the theme, and the one that I love the most is the roof top tent.

A roof top tent, as the name implies, is a tent that sits on the roof of your vehicle. When you're driving it's all carefully packed away on your roof rack, and when you stop you pop it up.

The tent stays on the roof of the vehicle, it is not removed and taken down. Your vehicle becomes a little like a turtle, carrying your house on your back.

It's very easy to put up your tent for the night. A roof tent of course is above the ground, so normally you need a ladder to get up into the sleeping area on the roof.

Some rooftop tents merely offer sleeping for 2 whilst others have a drop-down canvas awning which also makes a secure and weather and windproof area for cooking, or for 2 more people to sleep, usually the kids.

Generally speaking a rooftop tent will only sleep two in comfort, so if you're camping with the family you will need to bring some other form of accommodation for the kids. A simple 2 or 3 man tent will do fine. Unless of course you buy a canvas drop down for your roof tent.

But if you're camping as a couple you'll find that a roof tent is one of the simplest, easiest and most convenient ways to carry your house with you wherever you go, a
