By Kimberly Murgatroyd

In connection with being located in the Aegean, this Greek island is one of the most famous and most visited by tourists on vacation. Fortunate to have a distinct man made and natural exquisiteness, here is a brief guide to Mykonos for people having the luck to go on a trip to this flawlessly designed Cycladean haven.

Whilst there have been a lot of developments for the tourist trade on the island, it has managed to retain much of the traditional atmosphere. Key to this has been a direction that all new buildings must complement the traditional architecture and it is something which has worked well.

Though it has kept much of its indigenous charm, the lifestyle is very cosmopolitan and where once frequented by the famous and rich of the world, the bars, clubs and restaurants this led to have in the main be retained. This can be seen no better than in the capital of Chora.

Lying within green hills that inclines lightly in the direction of the sea, its white structures form a captivating scene most predominantly when observed from the ocean. Its curving, narrow streets are filled with shops and a charming cafe sophistication can be felt in the quaint flower decorated restaurants and pubs.

For beach enthusiasts, the island is perfect as well, most preferably in Ornos and Stefanos where you can have all the pleasure intended for families. For visitors longing to savor the excitement of surfing, the place to go to would be Fetelia, with its radiant gust of the wind beating at the sea.

Guests who are intent to touch base with the culture are very well cared for in this place as well; not to mention a lot of beautiful churches to add to the charm. When having a vacation in these areas though, it is necessary that the guests' clothes are covered appropriately to guarantee that the religiously devoted locals won't be offended.

With a great nightlife too, the island really does appeal to a diverse crowd of visitors, no matter what vacation is asked for. This guide to Mykonos will have hopefully whetted your appetite but, as you will discover, it has barely scratched the surface.
