The Many Hotels In Wellington

Wellington is the capital city of New Zealand. It is located at the southern tip of the North Island. Situated on a splendid harbor surrounded by steep hills, New Zealand is a merry mix of history and modernization. This city is the second largest in New Zealand and its landscape is accentuated by the combination of old and new buildings. Wellington is a cultural, artistic, commercial and political hub that enjoys its fair share of tourist arrivals. Wellington hotels offer the best conveniences and amenities for families, businessmen and nature lovers who flock to the city at various times of the year.

Wellington is also called "Windy Wellington" because of the lashing winds that blow from Cook strait during winter. The city has a bustling and pretty waterfront area that offers a sheltered refuge and showcases a graceful promenade where one can find shops, restaurants and facilities for leisure activities. The center of the city is dotted with prominent structures such as the Parliamentary District, which is the architectural masterpiece of Wellington; the Old Government Building, which is the second largest wooden building in the world; and the Victorian Gothic National Library . Wellington is nestled by the boundaries created by the hills and the harbor. It is a pedestrian city and to truly enjoy the essence of the place, one has to explore Wellington on foot. All of the city's interesting sites can be reached on foot, although there are also bus routes. The City Circular Bus route stops on many of the major tourist attractions and runs every ten minutes through the central city. Nature lovers will be enchanted by the beautiful scenery. Tourists will enjoy the cable car ride to the Botanic Gardens that also showcases the city center, the harbor and the Hutt Village. The Hutt village was one of the locations used in the filming of 'Lord of the Rings'.

Wellington is also a hip place characterized by style and eclecticism. Some of New Zealand's best art galleries, microbreweries, restaurants and coffee shops can be found in the capital. There are many restaurants in Wellington and locals proudly claim that you can dine in a different restaurant everyday for over a year. You can enjoy the kerbside cafes or dine in style at the numerous restaurants offering a variety of cuisine. Wellington's scenic harbor and energetic city life are the attractions during the day. At night, the city's assumes a party atmosphere as restaurants sprawl out into the streets.

Wellington's unique history accounts for its diverse and unique character. It was established by an enterprising, innovative and supportive community and to this day, the drive of the founding community continues to permeate in every aspect of life in Wellington. Visitors will enjoy not only the scenery but the vibrancy of the people as well. From the luxurious Wellington hotels to the historic buildings, one can glean how much progress the people of Wellington have made and how much they value their past.
