These tips are important for anyone who plans on going on a trip or going out to sea. These tips are mainly given to those who are doing this for the very first time.

For the inexperienced there are several boat rental companies which also offer safety courses and the equipment necessary for both occupational and recreational use. The first tip associated with boating is life jackets. It is important to always have the correct amount of life jackets on board and to know how to accurately wear it on the body. Life jackets are important in case of accidents where individuals can be thrown overboard. They will keep the individuals head and torso above water to prevent drowning and are thus the number one rule in boat safety.

Sobriety is another important tip. Sometimes boats are rented for parties or a get together and alcohol is brought on board. This is fine, although one individual should always remain sober in order to maneuver the boat. Driving a car while drinking and the accidents that may occur can also happen in a boat. A drunk person at the wheel of a boat can cause significant damage by running the boat unto rocks or leaving it unattended. One person should always remain sober as this will shorten the risk of accidents.

Swimming lessons are taught to many. But for those who intend to go out to sea it is a very important safety tip. Persons who plan on going on a boating trip should be able to swim. This is an essential tip in case of accident. The weather is also an important factor when going out to sea. Harsh conditions conditions can result in difficult and turbulent waters. Inexperienced persons will need to first check the forecast to ensure there are no storms or heavy rains heading their way.

Boats often are available with traditional engines. Ensure this engine has been recently serviced and is in great working condition. Smaller boats normally have smaller motors but they too will need to be checked. Also, carrying extra gas tanks on the trip will ensure patrons do not become stranded as a result of insufficient fuel.

There are some boats which are not motor powered but instead rely on oars or paddles. Ensuring there are ample oars on board before taking a boat out to sea is essential. The boat itself should also be examined for any leaks and areas of damage to ensure there is no risk of sinking. Boats should be cleaned regularly.

Emergency kits should be kept on the highest point of a boat to ensure it does not get wet while out at sea. These kits should consist of medical supplies and any other items that will be needed in a worse case scenario. Flashlights are also a necessity.

Boating safety is very important for anyone planning a trip out at sea. Ensure that every aspect of the trip is accurate to ensure a safe but fun-filled adventure.
