By John Husker

Glendale is a small residential town that is located in the Valley of the Sun in Northwest Arizona. This beautiful town has many sightseeing attractions. Some of the top ones are as following.

The Jobing.com Arena is a popular hotspot in Glendale, with dozens of shows and concerts being held there each year. Sports fans throng the place whenever the Phoenix Coyotes are playing.

University of Phoenix Stadium (previously known as the Cardinals Stadium) is the home ground of the Arizona Cardinals, the Championship Game and the BCS the Fiesta Game. You can prefer a guided tour of the place on days when there is no game.

The Westgate City Center is Glendale's foremost destination when it comes to shopping, dining and entertainment. It's located virtually next door to the University of Phoenix Stadium and Jobing.com Arena, which is considered the heart of the city. The Westgate City Center is largely known for its restaurants, bars and fountains as well as for the entertainment events, which are frequently hosted there.

Camelback Ranch was recently added to the list of sports venues in the West Valley. The Chicago White Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers also train in the stadium during the Spring Basketball season.

Built in 1885, the Sahuaro Ranch is a historic landmark that also finds a place in the National Register of Historic Places. This 17 acre property has 17 buildings and a rose garden that are open to visitors. The Sahuaro Ranch hosts many special events every year, one of which is famous Antique Tractor and Engine Show in February.

Thursdays in Glendale are special. If you walk down the streets of downtown Glendale any Thursday between October and May, you will be able to catch a glimpse of the Caitlin Court Historic District, shop for antiques, ride in a carriage and enjoy the street performances.

The Cerreta Candy Company is family-owned candy business. You can take a tour of the factory where you'll learn how liquid caramel is transformed into tempting treats and how delicious cream centers enter the core of rich chocolate. The standard tour lasts for about half an hour Monday to Friday.

Cabela's is one of the foremost retailers in Glendale. The store has become a tourist hub with its aquarium, fishing and hunting museum as well as other attractions. You can go to Cabela's from the Arena which is about a mile away from the Stadium.

The White Tank Mountain Regional Park is a few miles west of the town and not exactly in Glendale. One gets around 21 beautiful miles of biking and hiking trails with something different levels. For the kids, the Waterfall Trail leading to the Petroglyph Plaza is a favorite spot.

The Glendale Xeriscape Botanical Garden is covered in four acres which displays over a thousand varieties of cacti and many desert plants. This garden is open to all visitors everyday and admission is absolutely free.

That's the beginning of all that Glendale has in store. Come, drop by and experience the magic of authentic Arizona.
