Is One Computer System Really Enough?

By Dana C. Xavier

If you have a computer, which you do since you are reading this right now, then you know how amazingly powerful and wonderful they are. You can use them for many different things, and the range of their applications is only growing. However, one problem people run into is how many computers should you really own? For many people, owning one just isn't enough any more.

Most people have a decent desktop. And with a decent desktop, you can do pretty much anything. With a processor that is fast enough, and enough memory, you can do plenty of things. Watching videos, downloading music and movies, and many other tasks are easy to do with your standard desktop computer.

Naturally, you can't lug your desktop around with you. If you have some important work files that you need to bring to work, it can be difficult. The obvious solution to this is to get a laptop as well as a desktop. That way you can transfer data from your desktop to your laptop, and the problem is solved.

But should you stop there? The next computer people usually buy is an additional desktop for their home. For some people, this is a dedicated computer for gaming. For others, this computer is used for creating large video files.

For the same reason, many people use at least two laptops. If you use a laptop at work, it can get confusing, and even embarrassing, if you combine your personal data and your work data on the same computer. Especially if you have to give a presentation, and you are worried about the wrong file popping up at the wrong time.

But should you stop there? To be truthful, there's no reason you shouldn't have several computers in your home. It wasn't too long ago that having one TV in your house was considered a luxury. And now people have at least three.

Naturally, computers are quickly becoming a major part of our daily lives. The more computers you buy and use, the easier you will make life for yourself. And that will make everything very convenient.
