Hotels in London, Close to Famous Markets

By Chris Brown

London is, understandably, one of the most visited cities in the United Kingdom. It is a bustling mix of cosmopolitan and metropolitan influences, and it promises a very spectacular weekend away. London hotels are situated all across the city, so you won't find it hard to secure a great hotel for a decent price.

If you're not sure where to start your Sunday, head to Spitalfields market. This market in East London sells a great selection of foods, treats and vintage delights. This old fruit and veg market has been recently transformed into a boho weekend market, so it attracts a very diverse range of people. Do bear in mind that Sunday will be the busiest day, but it's also when you'll find the most items on display. The stalls and small shops sell items such as fair trade cushions, rare vinyl's, handcrafted notebooks, jewel encrusted vintage boots and hand made toy trains. Bring your kids here and treat them to a gift of two.

Come to Brick Lane if you want to immerse yourself in the heart of East London. This area has been very popular for a while now, and it attracts a lot of art students and a younger Londoner crowd. There's lots to explore here, and you can find pretty much anything from second hand furniture, unusual and unique clothes, and bric-a-brac. There are lots of eateries and cafes in its locale, so you can enjoy a fancy beverage as you discuss your findings.

London hotels can be quite expensive, but there are places in the city which fit any budget. For budget travellers, staying hotels in the east will save you a lot of money. The Thistle City Barbican is located close to Spitalfields market and Brick Lane market. It offers very comfortable accommodation for a three star hotel, and it is great for families with kids.

There are lots of hotels in London which are located in Camden. Camden Market is a great place to come if you're looking for clothes with a slightly dark, gothy feel. 100,000 people visit Camden each week, and it is a very popular attraction both for those who visit the city and others that reside here. The streets here are quite something else, and there's a lot to explore. People come to Camden because of the buzzing atmosphere it creates, being very popular with edgy youth sub cultures. There are also plenty of food stalls offering hot and freshly made food including Indian, Thai, falafel, noodles, crepes, snacks and fruit juices. All your senses are heightened here with all the different smells, noises and vibrant colours at Camden Market.
