Amenities Of Tropicana Field Ballpark

By Mike Woods

Tropicana Field is one of the places to see in St. Petersburg, Florida, if you can tear yourself and your family away from the beach. More than just a ballpark, this facility is glorious to look at, on the cutting edge of the sport with its artificial surface and dirt base lines, and incredibly fan-friendly. If you want to watch MBA baseball and make sure the whole family has a memorable day, Tropicana Field is the place to do it.

The huge MBA ballpark, with over a million square feet of artificial surface, has striking architecture and unique amenities for the community it is part of and to its many fans. For instance, there are many activities for children, including free admission to view the 10,000 gallon tank that is home to live cownose rays, a fish native to the area. There are also batting cages, a stage where kids can participate in a baseball-theme game show, the interactive fun of Right Field Street, and the Mt. Dew Extreme Zone. The field has recently undergone a multi-million dollar renovation which makes it one of the nation's premier sport facilities.

In addition to being an exciting team to follow, the Rays are dedicated to supporting the community that gives it a home, with special ties to the Florida Aquarium, which cares for the resident rays. For example, every time a ball is hit into the tank, the Aquarium receives a $2,500 donation and another $2,000 goes to a charity chosen by the player that hit the ball.

A good place to stay while in this resort city is the Historic Courtyard by Marriott Downtown St. Petersburg Hotel, which is near to Tropicana Field and all the other destination sites. The luxury hotel has all the amenities and services you have come to expect from Marriott, including free high-speed internet and an on-site fitness center. The Courtyard Cafe has a full breakfast menu as well as their famous buffet to help start your day right, and the heated indoor pool will welcome you back again after sightseeing is over.

Of course, the hotel is also close to all the attractions of St. Petersburg, which is a major tourist resort city drawing visitors from all over the world. One landmark is the St. Petersburg Pier, five stories of shopping, dining, and entertainment right on the waterfront. In addition to the many events and festivals held at the Pier, the whole city is full of activities of all sorts. Every day and every evening can be spent in a different way in this exciting city.
