Morgan Freeman's Finest Roles In Recent Memory

By Ryan Miller

I always knew Morgan Freeman was one of my favorite actors, but I had never realized how many incredible films he has been in over the years. There are probably ten films in my all time top fifty that star Morgan Freeman. Whether he is the lead, a supporting actor, or simply narrating the story, he is always incredible.

In my opinion, the following five movies are the best Morgan Freeman movies ever.

The first film I will mention just so happens to be my favorite film of all time: The Shawshank Redemption. If you have yet to see this absolutely incredible movie, then it should immediately move up to number one on your list of things to do. This is as good as movies get.

When it comes to Westerns, it is hard to touch the 1992 film Unforgiven. This Clint Eastwood directed Western movie won the Academy Award for Best Picture and if you are a fan of the genre, it is a must see film.

Also on my all time list of favorite Morgan Freeman films is Glory. In this film, which happens to be one of the greatest Civil War movies ever made (if not the greatest), Freeman plays Sergeant Major John Rawlins. An inspirational film to say the least.

Another movie that he stars in which I thoroughly enjoyed was Unleashed. Mr. Freeman plays a blind man to perfection in this film, which also stars Jet Li and is directed by Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle.

One other film of this incredible actor's that I feel the need to include on this list is Unleashed, or Danny The Dog. This movie was directed by Danny Boyle, who also directed 28 Days Later, Sunshine, and of course, Slumdog Millionaire.

These are just some of Mr. Freeman's finest roles and certainly there are others that I have failed to mention.
