The Aftermath Of A Vacation.

By Crystal Powers

An excellent vacation still has you in awe! Maybe you visited an exotic island or a historical landmark full of excitement. The end of your holiday can be a bit of a letdown. Going back to work and taking care of the house once again becomes your normal day to day life. In addition, there is all that unpacking of luggage and laundry to be done. There are many ways to lighten the stress when returning home from a exciting vacation.

Start the wind down of your vacation on the last day. Begin to work your daily routine and schedule back in according to the time zone you live in. Planning and participating in a large number of events on your last day can make the transition to your daily life rather hard. If while vacationing you've been eating a late breakfast, but when home you eat very early, start your last vacation day by adjusting your meal times back to your regular daily schedule. Set your watch back to your home time zone and plan your day around activities adjusted to that timing, including sleeping hours.

Another way to get back into routine is to sleep on the plane during your bedtime hours. Moving around and stretching will help you stay awake during the hours you normally do not sleep. Bring food and snacks with you and ingest them at times that coincide with meal times from your regular daily schedule. If you are driving a long distance, plan your road trip to make regular stops to walk and stretch and to have a meal at times consistent with schedules at home.

A lot of time goes into packing for a vacation. After a vacation, it is not important to unpack everything the minute you arrive home. Relax a little bit before unpacking, and take it slow after removing much needed items from your suitcase. The same holds true for approaching after vacation laundry. Laundry does not need to be completed the same day you return home from a vacation. Review mail and other bills that accumulated during the vacation.

Attend to bills that need payment, but let everything else wait. Reminisce about enjoyable events that occurred during your vacation while relaxing at home, this will make it easier to go back to reality the next day.
