Getting Reliable Tips for the Big Horse Races Online

By David Gately

The horse racing season always stirs up a lot of excitement and this year is no different. The race track in Melbourne has been buzzing well before the Cup and Sydney's track is right there with it. Racing fans are once again looking to the internet for tips on the big races. The experts at OZ Racing Form have been on an astonishing run, with right around 85% accuracy with their top picks at the track.

Picking a winner involves much more skill than choosing a favored horse repeatedly. Betting on the favorite will not generate big returns, so it takes a crafty pick to make anything less than a large sum of money equal a real prize. If you have the right information, you can take an educated guess.

For the horse racing fan, getting reliable tips isn't a simple proposition. With several racing form websites, you will encounter a computer as the expert picker. It takes a good deal of interpretation to head to the track in Sydney or Melbourne with some winners in hand. What a computer can miss -- and what a keen human observer can see -- are many times the difference between winners and losers.

The horse track can be a daunting place in the beginning, with a lot of figures to interpret and a lot of confusing results to process. Getting the advice of a seasoned pro will put you at ease and give you the confidence to show up at the track with a plan -- or, to wager off-track with a sense of purpose.

Few times of the year are quite as exciting as the period leading up to the Melbourne Cup. With the eyes of a nation glued to one race track, just about everyone has an idea about who's going to finish first. It's one thing to guess, but it's another thing altogether to lay your hard-earned money on the line based on someone's prediction. Do you want to take a chance on an electronic brain?

The worst part about trusting a racing form with limited information is that you never learn anything. You might get lucky here and there, but you'll probably be stuck buying tips for years if you want to make some good bets. OZ Racing Form tips will provide extensive coverage on the potential of a horse, or why you should pass. You'll see what an insider's knowledge can do for you at the track.

You don't just waltz into the winners circle again and again using blind luck. David Gatley has proven he has the touch on TVN racing programs and brings that expertise to OZ Racing Forms. You won't be going out on a limb, with low prices to sign up and a money-back guarantee backing up the service.

OZ Racing Form has proven that it simply has an edge on the competition in horse racing tips. Whether it's by one length or more, that's for you to decide, but you never want to be left out of the winner's circle with inferior tips.

European Skiing Destinations

By Owen Jones

Europe is the birthplace of skiing. The first drawings of a skier were found in a cave in Nordland, Norway. The drawing has been dated at 5000 BC. Norway was almost certainly the home of skiing or what is known as Nordic Skiing anyway.

Alpine or downhill skiing probably comes from central Europe in the neighbourhood of Switzerland. There are so many skiing resorts in Europe that there is a fantastic number of slopes for every degree of experience.

You can ski in almost every country in Europe. The least well-known skiing resorts are almost certainly in Scotland, but they do have them and the most well-known resorts are in the French and Swiss Alps, which are essentially the same place, but they span two different countries.

The French and The Swiss alps are the most commercialized for luxury and are also the most costly. Not far east from there is Austria which, although less well-known is also an attraction for skiers from Eastern Europe.

If you would like to go skiing at a more affordable rate go to Italy up on the Swiss border. There you will get practically the same skiing conditions as in the French and Swiss Alps but with Italian food and language, which means less English is spoken though, if you see that as a disadvantage.

Approximately the same cost is Andorra which is Catalan (Spanish to you and me, but not to them). Andorra sits in the Pyrenees Mountains with borders on France and Spain. The Spanish influence is the greater of the two. Skiing in Andorra is renowned for its teaching. It is a fantastic place to learn skiing or to take the family.

If you want to visit a rising star in the skiing firmament, try Croatia. Skiing in Croatia is also among the most reasonably priced in Europe. The facilities are excellent, but local wages are low which keeps the costs down. The food is delicious and so is the wine, though not maybe a match for French, Italian or Spanish cuisine.

Bulgaria is another rising location on the skier's map. Skiing is not well commercialized in Bulgaria but the locals have been skiing for centuries, it is merely that they are only just beginning to learn how to commercialize it. The locals are friendly, but do not expect much English to be spoken.

We must not forget the home of skiing, Norway and the rest of Scandinavia. Expect top class amenities in Scandinavia with top class prices to match. The locals are very friendly, but may not speak English. The food is more probable to be local as well. You are more likely to find decent skiing conditions all year round in Scandinavia as well.

There are so numerous skiing resorts in so numerous European countries, that if you wished to, you could organize a skiing tour of Europe. If you wanted to ski in Scandinavia and Andorra, you would have to fly, but you could do the Swiss, French and Italian Alps. Or Austria and Bulgaria or Bulgaria and Croatia.

A Review Of Gritty Film Paths Of Glory

By Andre Moore

Paths of Glory was originally written as a novel by Humphrey Cobb, a story which would turn into one of the greatest war movie classics made in the 50's. Considered to be one among the most potent movies directed by Stanley Kubrick, this black and white close up at the politics of war has had audiences cringing for nearly half a century. Based on the French army's efforts against the Germans during World War I, the movie takes a different turn then most war stories, examining the enemy from within, rather than those outside.

The plot begins with a proposed addition of another star to a general's rank, and a suicidal plan for attack against the Germans to attempt to please the public. Without regard to practicality, the French General Staff orders an attack on a highly fortified area to boost public morale after a long stalemate with the enemy. Their brash decision puts a weakened and worn-torn regiment at risk with no back up, and no time to prepare. And so begins a recipe for disaster.

The film takes a subtle, and realistic by today's standards, approach to the telling of a war story. The characters drive the plot forward without prompt from the external enemy, but rather from the inhumane judgments and justifications of their own seats of power. A depth exists in every private, general, and rank in between, along with the interactions between them. This is why the movie is a popular choice for teachers to assign their students to analyze and write about it for critical thinking.

Despite the colonel's best efforts to rally his troops and fulfill the order given by the general, everyone in the company feels a looming sense of failure. Made concrete by the quick slaughtering of just about every man who leaves the trench, many stay behind, positive there is no way to win. The observing general then accuses the regiment of cowardice, and three men are chosen to take the blame for the French failure. The judgment that ensues is the main motivation for the story, and just like the attempted attack, takes the characters down a dark journey in which no one can see a light at the end.

Though black and white footage may simply appear to be a technical limitation of the past to many who see an older film, it is still a respected medium for its drama and contrasting power. The emotional pull of the scenes in Paths of Glory are masterfully integrated with the lighting, darkness playing into the emotion of fear and anger, patchy light mixed with dark to portray doubt and suspense, and bright white to reveal the overly clean and opulent.

One technical issue that many in today's audience may notice is the tendency of the characters to pace around the room during thoughts and speech, sometimes to an unrealistic extreme. The reason for this is to keep the feeling of motion alive while characters are set in lengthy conversations. With the limited ability to move the camera itself due to the touchy nature of lighting at the time, shot diversity depended on the actors' theatrical movements and gestures to stay interesting.

By following the story of three soldiers doomed to death by their superiors for unjust causes, the French and many other European countries banned the movie for many years before cultural policies on such material loosened. Film critics acclaim it as the first challenger to the idea that war is completely honorable and glorious. The ironic and emotional journey the plot takes leave audiences with both warnings and questions about those in power, and the motives behind making enemies out of those who should be allies.

Paths of Glory was highly critically acclaimed, though its box office profits were minimal. The moral behind the story lingers on with relevance as questions of human sacrifice for the sake of political war is more heavily disdained as generations pass. The movie is often used today as a critical thinking and discussion tool for English classes and Film classes alike, sharing the universal challenge of fate and orders for a long time to come.

Men's Fashion - Tips For Looking The Part On Your Next Beach Vacation

By Mark Walters

It's never too early to start planning for your summer vacation, right? Especially when you look out of the window, see grey skies and find yourself distracted by dreams of sunshine. So what should you take with you on your summer break? One item that's really important is your sunglasses. They're only small, so easily forgotten but, at the same time, easy to stash away in your luggage. Go for a big pair that will protect your eyes from the glare as well as the sun.

You should also make sure to take a selection of T-shirts with you. Tees are great for use as cover-ups on the beach if you can feel yourself burning in the sun, as well as being useful if you're heading off to a bar or restaurant. Take a selection of colors with you so you can mix and match your outfits, but be careful not to wear anything that clashes with the amazing tan you're sure to get. Go with loose, breathable fabrics like cotton to stay cool.

Another key item you should make sure to pack in your suitcase is a pair or two of board shorts. These will serve you well whether you're spending the day chilling on the beach or if you're off out on a day trip to do some exploring. They're generally made out of a breathable fabric that also folds up really small, meaning they'll fit easily into your luggage. Knee length shorts are especially trendy and they can double up as bathing shorts, helping you save room in your luggage.

You might think it's only women who have need of multiple pairs of shoes, but it can be a good idea to take a couple of pairs with you on vacation. They shouldn't take up too much room in your suitcase, though, so don't worry. The two main shoes you should take are sturdy sandals and casual flip flops, which will cater to all your needs. Flip flops are great for the beach or casual exploring on vacation, while sandals are great if you're planning on walking any distance.

Another item you should definitely take with you is a long-sleeve casual shirt. More than one can be a good idea, especially if you have fair skin that needs to be protected from the sun. It's always an idea to have something to cover your shoulders and choosing a light color such as white or pale blue will help to reflect the sun and keep you cool, even when wearing long sleeves. These shirts will also be great if you find yourself out for a formal meal.

A Historical Go through the Air Freight Industry

By Nuba Lukwardo

Throughout the early many years of aviation, everyone was constantly searching for practical uses of airplanes. Everyone was amazed using the machines that enabled men to fly, however the question of how to handle them plagued everyone's mind. Obviously, the ways to use airplanes couldn't be restricted to entertainment, because that might be wasting the large potential from the technology on the pretty superficial industry. The environment freight industry began using the journey of the bolt of silk from Dayton to Columbus, Ohio in November 1910.

That fateful trip gave birth to the airfreight industry to be sure it today. From then on event, everything just progressed to new heights for your air freight industry. One of many pioneers with the air freight marketplace is American Railway Express. The company indicates to the fact that ahead of the advent of mid-air freight industry, cargo was usually transported by train.

The airfreight industry developed a lot of conveniences possible. First, there was clearly the matter of speed. Air freight hasten deliveries between businesses. Which means the air freight industry caused it to be possible for businesses to obtain various merchandise if they needed it. And also this saved big money on storage. Ahead of the advent of mid-air freight industry, businesses were required to keep the maximum amount of stock as you can. This helped these to meet orders with time. Because of the introduction of air freight, businesses could just fly in different merchandise.

During the 1920's, shipping of cargo via air grew more popular. In November 14, 1926, the National Air Transport Company was born. This company delivered the first air cargo in the United States in September 1, 1927. Many more companies were founded as promoters of the air freight industry. As the industry was still relatively young, these companies did not make much profit.

Mid-air freight industry have got to a slow start mainly because that they had stiff competition via passenger carriers. Many established passenger carriers opposed the establishment of your all-cargo air freight industry for the reason that they feared it could destabilize the air industry.

One more reason why the environment freight industry didn't grow as people hoped was that many businesses were not able sustain the large losses related to starting an air freight operation. Although some people attempte to remedy this by combining air freight with air passenger transport, they merely succeeded in slowing the industry.

The revolution of the air freight industry came about when a man named Fred Smith noticed that the common practice of combining air freight with passenger freight was highly inefficient. He proposed that air freights should have different flight patterns from passenger flights. He was successful in gathering funds mainly because of his proposal for a guaranteed next-day-delivery service. And so it was that in April 1973, the Federal Express began operations. Of course, the initial years of business were hard. However, after three years of flying cargo, the company was beginning to show profit.

By the 1980's, Federal express was a household name. This just goes to show you how far a truly great idea can take you. Today, the air freight industry is booming and companies make millions of dollars in profits. That's a far cry from the way that air freight businesses lost money in the past.

Hoquiam recognizes the past where we're going

By Lewis Black

Every September, lumberjacks from throughout the country descend on Hoquiam, WA for the Logger's Playday. This day-long festival celebrates over 150 years of logging tradition in the Grays Harbor area. Internationally known, Logger's Playday provides fun, food and competition.

The word Hoquiam actually means "hungry for wood," reflecting the role logging has played in Grays Harbor County. Since the lumber barons of the nineteenth century, the forestry industry has supported the local economy and shaped life in the area. Even today, several logging companies make the town home, exporting lumber and forest products. This small town is the perfect location for a celebration of lumberjacks and their dangerous profession.

First thing on the morning of Logger's Playday, the Rotary Club serves up its Famous Pancake feed. After that is a vendor street fair downtown, featuring food, crafts, music and even a truck driving competition. The street fair runs from 10AM until 4PM on 7th and J streets.

Also taking place during the day is the Jack Reynvaan Memorial Run. This race consists of a two mile fun run, a 5 kilometer run and a 10 kilometer run. All races are open to the public. With only two steep hills, the course is relatively flat and both start and finishes at the high school. Registration is at 8AM and the race kicks off at 9AM.

Sponsored by the Elks Lodge, the Logger's Playday Parade begins at noon. The parade is popular with festival attendees, and many local organizations participate. It begins on Earley Street and ends on 5th Street. A Park and Ride shuttle is available to take people from the Olympic Stadium to the parade route. Local officials recommend finding an observation spot early due to the crowds. After the parade, at 2 PM, is the Salmon Bake.

The high point of Logger's Playday is the competitions at the Olympic Stadium at 6PM. Loggers come from across the country to the area to compete in the games. The events include log rolling, binder throwing (ax throwing), log chopping, and tree climbing as well as other tests of blade and wood skill. One of the most anticipated events is the choker setting competition. During this contest, lumberjacks try to set a steel cable around the logs which are hanging over water. Many participants end up falling and getting soaked. The games provide not only fun for the participants and audience, but also education and a new appreciation for saws and axes and the people who wield them.

The Grays Harbor area has several hotel and other lodging options for out of town celebrants. Perhaps the most fitting for a lumberjack event is the Hoquiam Castle. Originally built by lumber Baron Robert Lytle, this bed and breakfast has been restored, giving the guest a sense of history with all the modern conveniences.

At dusk, Logger's Playday concludes with a fireworks show. The fun and food of this festival has kept people coming back to Hoquiam, WA for almost 50 years. This Northwestern celebration should not be missed.

One Man's Love For Goose Hunting In Colorado

By Robert

Growing up over the years I had the privilege of hunting nearly all of the game species Colorado has to offer. Elk, Deer, Blue Grouse, Ducks, Pheasants but the hunting I love to do most is goose hunting.

Contrary to what some may believe Colorado offers some of the best goose hunting in the nation. We have farm land, rivers, lakes, and ponds that waterfowl absolutely love.

My love for goose hunting was solidified the day my Dad took me goose hunting for the first time. There used to be a bar in Severance, CO called Bruce's Bar and it was owned by an older guy who lived for goose hunting. He had several blinds surrounding a large lake where a lot of the geese would roost. After this day I would be called a goose hunter for life!

It was a day I'll never forget. We pulled into Bruce's Bar about 6:30, walked in and paid for our blind and then had a seat at the bar and ordered breakfast. As soon as breakfast was over we headed out to the blind to get setup. The blind we picked was just east of a huge lake where all the geese roosted. You could hear geese sitting on the lake and there must of been thousands. As soon as it hit 8am you could hear the geese even louder and they were getting off the lake in droves. Soon the geese began to split up and fly off to feed in several directions including toward us. I recall the old man shooting but for some reason I don't remember if he dropped any birds. Even though we may have not walked away with a single bird I realized I was in love with hunting geese.

We no longer hunt out of pits pass shooting. Now you can find us rolling into the cornfields with 16' trailers packed full of decoys hunting from pits. I get the pleasure of hunting geese with some of my best friends and we all share our experiences on Colorado Hunting Journal, a website we created to share our pictures and hunting experiences with fellow hunters.

Know All The Options Before Joining A Movie Download Service

By Angel Stephenson

Did you know that there's a new and popular way of getting movies these days? It's through purchasing movie downloads. And it's definitely more convenient that going to the cinema, renting or buying a DVD. If you wish to try this, you need to subscribe to a website offering such. However, you might want to read the following first.

One website may have a different mode of payment from another. Although it's not unlikely that a particular site will offer several modes of payment. When picking the kind of payment, consider the frequency of your movie watching. Can you afford to watch a movie daily? Or perhaps once or two movies weekly?

There are websites that will ask from you either a monthly or yearly payment upon signing in. But there are also those where payment is done only when you download a title. When deciding whether or not you should subscribe to movie downloading, consider the ups and downs. Think whether you will be able to save money through this mode, or actually spend more.

You might also want to check a site's selection of titles. The number of movies a site has depends on how many film studios it has an agreement with. Lucky you if the site you're eyeing is in agreement with several different major studios. It means that you have plenty of mainstream titles to choose from and enjoy.

To ensure that your downloads will not strain your eyes, check the quality of available movies. There are a couple of ways to do that. First, note the size of the screen resolution. This is usually done in pixels. Some common examples are: 320 x 240 pixels, 640 x 480 pixels, 1024 x 768 pixels, etc.

Then there's also the bitrate which you should also note. Usually, it's expressed in bps - that stands for bits per second. But sometimes it's in kbps - kilobits per second. If everything is beginning to look too technical now, fret not. Just remember: for both screen resolutions and bitrates, the higher their numbers, the better quality they are. It's that simple.

A way to tell whether a download site is good or bad is by looking at the number of memberships. While it may not give a clear-cut evaluation, it is a good place to start. There must be a reason why a particular site is popular, thus it has more subscribers. Maybe the members are satisfied with the site's good service.

There are many sites out there whose downloadable items contain viruses, malwares and the likes. However, for most legal sites, you can be sure that what you will be downloading is free of such. So your computer's hard drive is safe from harm. Also, it's not just the security of your downloads that you should be after. You should see to it that the payment mode is secure too.

Finally, check the site's terms of use about your movie downloads. Some sites can be very flexible with your purchase. You can transfer and play your titles on different gadgets, like another PC, or a portable media player. Others also enable you to burn movies onto DVDs and other popular media. But still there are sites which do not provide such flexibility at all.
