Garage Storing is For Those Items That Don't Belong In The House

By Nelson Wandi

A garage is the ideal location for storing articles such as sporting gear and various implements and other machines. Then there is its intended function, that of parking the car as well as other activities around the parking of the automobile. Alongside the activities of parking your car, we find other activities for the garage. There are things such as using some of it for a home-office, or a gym, a workshop, or any other need. Garage storing is for those items that don't belong in the house.

Lets look at shelving for a minute. Normally garage storage shelves may come in two types: site-built and constructed. Site-built shelves are often limited and permit you to arrange the sizes for your available space. You can find all that you require at the local home center, lumber center; price cut store, or hardware center.

One of the fundamentals of the garage storing shelves are built from " plywood or a length of 1X or 2X wood on a heavy-duty brace. This is mounted by fastening the braces to the struts in a straight line, utilizing lengthy screws, and fastening the shelf to the set. To fortify the storing shelves you can add a strut at every rivet.

One more type of shelf is the floor-supported one. One way to construct this type is to run vertical 2X4s about 50 in intervals, resting them on the floor, fastening each to the beams or ceiling truss at the top. Besides, the 2X4s are going straight to the edge linking the framework then particleboard is utilized to make the shelves. The most frequently used measurements for spacing between 2X4s is as a rule on 25 inches. However, these sizes can be changed to provide strength for somewhere between the size of the items that you are storing.

For saving little items you aught to think about that space between the studs. By connecting a series of 1X2 strips straight to the inside edges of two neighboring studs. Pin them about six inches away from each other, cut out some 1X4 and 1X6 portions of lumber and lay them between the studs, sliding them over the 1X2s where you will make a smaller flexible shelf. These will be terrific for glass containers, tins, and various size decanters as well as for other small and lightweight items. The smaller units are good for organizing and keeping fasteners and tacks.

Although you may eventually want to consider steel when constructing garage shelving, one type to investigate may be plastic. But, even though may be strong enough for laying up lightweight items, you might require something with greater strength for storing heavier items. A drawback of steel is that they cannot be made to fit to size. There are standard widths, depths, and heights. You will have to decide on a size that fits within your available space.

Another important consideration in prefabrication is customization. Prefabricated shelving should be adjustable to at least two locations or spaces inside the shelf framing, and as well, the pegs for adjusting the shelf aught to be heavy duty enough so they will be held in place. They should never be worked loose or accidentally dislodge.

One more item to be thought of when opting for prefabricated shelves, particularly those intended for weighty loads, is that they can necessitate a wall tie or other prop up alongside to prevent tipping.

How Much Will The Airfares Cost

By Alex Sirutor

For your holiday or get-away of a life time, there are few things in life that inspire a vacation like a cruise ship. The images that usually come to mind when you think about this kind of holiday are bikinis and shorts and passengers leaning back into their striped deck chairs acquiring tans. Some of us also think about sun, sweat and sangria.

You'll can eat till you can to eat no more. Entertainment is exciting and with it you'll find yourself celebrating. Are you looking forward to sailing toward Alaska? Perhaps you'd prefer Bermuda or the Greek Islands. Even off sailing off the coast of Sydney, Australia you'll always find something a bit different. There are frequently asked questions that have (sometimes surprising) answers. As the years flow life appears to become complicated and stressful. Rest and relaxation are most important to your well being. A vacation gives you that time so desperately needed for your adult life.

There is one element in the planning that can lead to further stress - airline fares. In this day and age with a poor world economy travel across the world is always stressful when people try to work out financial details. This is likely true if you're planning a family holiday. Discuss it with your family around the kitchen table, look at brochures, depicting exotic destinations, and faraway beaches, when someone in the family asks how much will the airfares cost? That's when you see your vacation possibly evaporating before your eyes.

You could begin to solve your difficulty by talking to a travel agent who will give you advice on the current cost of airfare. You might also look at alternative means of travel such as completing part of your journey by train which can lessen the cost. However if you have your heart set on flying all the way, you might want to consider your research.

If you haven't decided on a budget with your family yet, this might be a good time to gather them together, and decide on how much of the family wealth to spend. Once you have your budget established you can begin to look at making decisions on what will probably be the most costly part of your vacation-the air fare. With your budget set in advance the only thing you have to worry about is finding an airline which offers the best deals. With the right amount of research your total airfare should fall within your vacation budget.

An author once wrote, 'the play's the thing.' You might be able to write '...the plans the thing!' Discovering the best deals on fares will reduce the stress and make it fun. Planning a trip means taking the time to compare the variety of alternatives, and then you and your family will be on your way.

Parents Exploring New Orleans Colleges Should Take A Look At Xavier Louisiana University

By David Mims

If your high school student is preparing for college one of the most important part of the process is the campus visit. This should take place during the junior year or in the fall of the senior year. If you are scouting for colleges in and around Louisiana be sure you don't overlook Xavier Louisiana University.

Xavier is a school that will appeal to a special type of student. It was founded by St. Katherine Drexel who was the second of only two Americans to be canonized by the Catholic church. Growing out of her ministry to the children of former slaves Xavier is the only university in America that is historically Black and Catholic.

Born in 1858, Katherine Drexel was wealthy and well educated. She was raised with a sense of duty to those less fortunate. When she told the Pope that she wished to donate her fortune to supporting ministry in Black and Native American communities he suggested she go to them herself.

Xavier University is one of the many schools founded by Katherine Drexel. Her heritage lives on here, both in the school's dedication to the Catholic faith and in its stated purpose to contribute to the promotion of a more just and humane society. Students here are expected to excel academically.

Xavier prepares students to become leaders in their chosen professions and agents for positive change within a global society. A significant number of Black pharmacists in the United States are graduates of Xavier. The pre med faculty is remarkable for the number of its graduates accepted into medical schools.

Xavier is not a party school. However even though there is no football team there is a full schedule of athletic events that attract fans from miles around. A variety of other events provide excuses for parents and families to visit the campus.

Lagniappe Summer Weekend is a great time for prospective students and their families to visit the campus. For enrolled students it's Freshman orientation. For the uncommitted or not-yet-accepted it's a time for meeting students and faculty, taking placement tests and experiencing life in the dorms. Parents have to make their own housing accommodations but that's easy enough.

Located in the Triangle section of New Orleans, Xavier is close to a number of fine hotels. The Holiday Inn Metairie New Orleans Airport hotel is only about five and a half miles from the Xavier campus. Visitors will enjoy a good night's rest after a long day of meeting, greeting and sight seeing.

Before they retire for the night guests might want to check their Email with the complimentary Wi-Fi. They might enjoy a refreshing swim in the outdoor pool or a workout in the state-of-the-art fitness center. Or they might want to kick back and watch a favorite program on the 32 inch HD TV. They might catch a rerun of It's a Different World.

Race Fans Can't Get Enough Of Dover International Speedway

By Mike Woods

Thousands of race fans heading to Dover International Speedway have already discovered the convenience of booking their stay at the Doubletree Hotel Downtown Wilmington Legal District. Comfortable guest rooms and suites are equipped with all the expected amenities and within an easy one hour drive of the race track, making it the ideal place to stay during race weekends.

The track is one of the most unique on the NASCAR circuit because of its unusual configuration. The dual purpose facility has a race track built for horses completely encircled by the one mile track built for cars. Legendary stock car champion Richard Petty won the first car race sanctioned by NASCAR on a July afternoon in 1969.

Nicknamed the Monster Mile for its seemingly voracious appetite for race cars, many drivers have gotten crossed up on its high banks and had their cars collected into the wall. Though it is only one mile in length, the speedway requires drivers to exhibit the patience and skills normally seen on much bigger race tracks.

Speedway officials immortalized Miles the Monster in 2008 when they introduced the humongous Monster Monument in Victory Plaza. At 46 feet tall, Miles will not be ignored as he glares through glowing eyes that are bright red. His menacing visage can be seen by drivers on Route 1 and no one entering the FanZone can possibly miss him as he stands with arm raised and a full sized race car clutched in his fist. The FanZone is nearly eight acres of fun with sponsor booths, interactive attractions and souvenir haulers to entertain visitors.

The property has undergone many changes over the years with the addition of Dover Downs Slots in 1995, the same year the track surface was converted to concrete. By 2001, grandstand expansions saw the seating capacity at 135,000, a number that surpassed any other mid-Atlantic region sports facility.

The race viewing experience was literally taken to new heights in 2004 when the Monster Bridge was opened for business. Fans who can score these coveted tickets are given the VIP treatment and armchair seating in a glass structure that spans the third turn. This spectacular view of the cars racing beneath their feet is something that cannot be experienced anywhere else.

When the checkered flag falls, fans can head back to Wilmington for a relaxing evening. Guest may order up some room service or head down to the lounge for a drink followed by dinner at the cafe. Race fans can count on the Doubletree to provide everything necessary for an exciting weekend getaway.

Schedule A Well Deserved Mini-vacation

By Adam Surizuo

Consumer Surveys are interesting. American Express conducted a survey among the National Association of Female Executives. According to the survey forty percent of the smallest business owners, that is those companies earning less that two hundred million dollars in revenue, haven't shut down for a vacation. On the other hand, even the owners with more than two million in revues aren't being much better. Of the high-income group, only seventy five percent planned any kind of holiday.

The NAFE Conference revealed that those business owners who actually get away from the office would not be really getting away. As it happens, one in three will use the vacation to further their operation. Fifty percent of them will take time form their holiday and check in with the office at least once a day.

Why is it that business owners can't let go? What are their concerns? What is it that keeps owners tied to their companies to that degree? According to the survey, their major concern is an important client or customer. They feel that they will miss out on a new business opportunity. Some owners feel that there isn't a competent person who can run things for even a week and will make wrong decisions

This isn't hard for an owner to feel that way. Taking a vacation for them isn't worry-free. However, with planning, preparation, and great leadership you can enjoy the excitement of their time off. Make certain that you'll not end up with a surprise. Take your current projects and set out some scenarios. Decide what should happen in these instances. Brief the staff about any possibilities and list your major concerns about each of clients. Delegate various tasks to specific staff. Entrust these people to act if the need arises.

Layout the holiday schedule and introduce the staff to it. Leadership is being a delegator not a dictator. Strategically schedule your vacation during that traditional time when your business slows a bit. Perhaps the business person should think about scheduling a mini-vacation when they just can't let go for a week or two. Try taking a few days out of town. Chances are the time away will increase your sense of trust about your staff. Busy people require a brief escape. They need to break the routine. Different surroundings will help to re-energize and correct ones perspective.

On holiday, turn off your cell phone. Don't pack the 'notebook' or laptop. Avoid the urge to check the email account. Keep your roles straight and when outside of work, connect with family and friends. Be certain to be a father to the children. Cultivate personal interests. Stay spiritually (does not mean religious) healthy pursuing the avocation chosen. Perhaps these tips will help to schedule a well deserved mini-vacation (or two) this summer.
