Visit California's Coast - There are lots of beautiful places to go for a vacation near the coast of California. San Francisco seems to have the best weather throughout the year, with everything being temperate. Their summers are hot and dry and winters are a bit cold, however, not all areas are the same. San Francisco is also home to Silicon Valley, where many of the IT companies and private investors are based. The better known landmarks are Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf and Chinatown just to name a few. All of these are part of the city's main tourist attractions.
San Francisco is also home to several universities which deserve a visit as well. Stanford of course, Berkeley, St. Mary's College and Santa Clara University have made this area sought after for the higher learning potential. The city is also known for its liberal stance on many issues, including gay rights, this is a place for everyone who wants tolerance and acceptance. This made the city a kind of sanctuary for liberalism.
San Diego is another great place to visit. This is the eighth-largest city in the United States and second-largest city in California, after Los Angeles. With the warmer days and mild evenings, San Diego is easy to adjust to as is being known for its cuisine, relatively low crime rate, and coastal and friendly attitude. A warning though, the city has the strictest policy on driving under the influence. In fact, there are DUI attorneys in San Diego, whose job is to prevent people from being convicted of DUI offenses. Because of this strict regulation, it makes the city less prone to incidents of DUI.
Tourism is a key industry owing to the city's climate, its beaches, and abundant tourist attractions such as: Balboa Park, Belmont amusement park, San Diego Zoo, San Diego Wild Animal Park and Sea World San Diego. San Diego's Spanish influence is reflected in the many historic sites across the city, such as: Mission San Diego de Alcala and Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. Annual events in San Diego include: Comic-Con, Buick Invitational golf tournament, San Diego/Del Mar Fair, San Diego Black Film Festival, and the Street Scene Music Festival.
Another popular destination is the city of Angels or Los Angeles. Home to Hollywood, Beverly Hills and its own share of theme parks, LA is the go-to for sun, celebrities, concerts, shopping, surfing and fun! Disneyland, Magic Mountain and Universal Studios are some of the attractions found in the county of Los Angeles. Also known as Tinsel Town, given the number of film studios here, many actors and actresses are based here or at least homes here. It is a place where status seems to be the standard for actors and actresses. Some of the more enjoyable activities you can do here are: Drive down Mulholland Drive and view the city from the top of the mountains. Dance the night away at an endless variety of night clubs. Drive down to the coast and watch in awe the majestic Pacific Ocean. Perhaps the sheer excitement of meeting a celebrity may be enough for you. In any case, Los Angeles is certainly an important destination and contrary to popular belief it is possible to spend a holiday here on a budget.
The majestic California coastline is 500-plus miles from Dana Point in the south to Leggett in northern Cali. A drive along the coast is itself a wonderful destination vacation so don't rush it. Plan to spend at least 2 days driving and sight-seeing. The destinations along this route will require their own share of time to properly respect all the coast has to offer. A vacation to any of the cities or beaches will be another chapter or two in your travel journal.
