Teens Love Summer Camp

By Lonnie Lorenz

While choosing the right Teen Summer Camp may be more complicated than selecting a general interest camp for a younger child, the rewards can be even richer.

Often parents wonder about the benefits of a Teen Summer Camp. The programs give teens an opportunity to get a little dirty, but the increase in social skills, maturity and independence is amazing.

Finding the right summer program for teens is not much different than finding a program for a nine year old. You still want a safe, secure, and appropriate environment. However, when picking a camp for a teen they need new challenges and greater independence. Often teens find a camp that they like and like to return year after year to see old friends. Some teens would prefer to try new experiences each summer.

It is important to keep in mind that not all teens are the same and have different needs with in the 13-19 years of teen life. When choosing a program for teens keep in mind the needs, interests, abilities and your child's maturity as well.

Looking for more information on finding the teenager camp that's best for your child. One great free resource to find the best Summer Kids Camps information is at Summer Camp Advice.

Planning a summer program in November may be more difficult for an adolescent than a younger child, because your teenager's interests and emotions are going through such enormous changes. However, because many good programs fill up fast, you will want to try to focus early so that you and your child have the widest range of choices.

So how do you start? Start your search for a summer program with the internet. Pick a few camps that you like. Then sit down and talk with your child. Working together finding camp is a way to strengthen your relationship with your child. This is an opportunity to discuss with your teenager his interests, concerns, and values. You need to talk with your teen about what each of you want the summer to be. But be ready to Listen...even if they "don't want to do anything." Then suggest the few that you have already found.

Finding the right teen summer camp requires a parent not to give up right away. Often the effort you put into finding the right program will pay off. The internet can be helpful for this. Yet it is good to know if your thinking of a program that specializes in serving, traveling, adventure or a little of all.

One of the best ways to reconcile your goals with your child's is to piece together the summer with activities from both of your lists. Although it is more difficult and figuring things out may be more time consuming, your teen will get a broader experience for your work.

In the end, you cant get your teenager to leave home, it is important to set some summer rules, expectation, chores, and schedules, otherwise it may be a miserable summer for all.

Swift Nature Camp has a wonderful teen summer camp program that provides teens a special opportunity to make friends their own age in a non stressed and fun-filled environment The program increases self-esteem, independence, and personally challenges them to try new activities. We understand teens do not want to be told what to do. They are looking for Adventures. So we provide many opportunities for cabins to leave camp and go out into the big open wild and canoeing down the Mississippi River. Camp or backpack in a national forest. Remember being a teen is the end of childhood and this time should be used to stretch being a kid while gaining skills to take them into adulthood. And that's more than watching cable.

EOS Rebel Review & Price

By Manny Dyrzra

As the leading member of the EOS Rebel series, the canon EOS Rebel T2i delivers a number of specialized EOS functions. It's an user friendly, lightweight digital slr with an 18.0-megapixel CMOS graphic sensor and improved light sensitivity for photography in reduced light. Additionally, the Rebel comes with a sophisticated HD Movie setting which allows you to create fabulous full HD movies. The DSLR is definitely capable of capturing as much as 3.7 frames per second and is also able to shoot the instant it's picked up. With the enhanced Live View, a brand new wide-area screen, and extra features including Canon's brilliant Auto Lighting Optimizer and Highlight Tone features ensure brilliant photos and videos. Built with several of the most advanced functions of any Digital slr, it's absolutely the best Rebel Canon has ever provided.

Canon EOS Rebel T2i Pros: -- The 18-135mm lens is a wonderful upgrade compared to the normal 18-55mm lens. Particularely if it is your 1st dslr, and you just don't possess a large budget for more lenses. It's also good for trips, shooting pictures of kids, or perhaps in some other situation in which you don't wish to change lenses. - Performance. Minimal shutter lag, wonderful video, great low-light performance. -- Relatively light (around 1 kg / 2 lbs . with lens)

Canon EOS Rebel T2i Cons: -- Cost is somewhat high - but worth it. -- The on board flash isn't ideal. -- No auto-focus while zooming while taking video. -- Focus in live picture mode is a touch too slow.

Photographs: * The Canon EOS Rebel T2i pictures are amazing. The wide range ISO and sizable screen helps make reviewing pictures a breeze.

Video: * Video is among the strongest features of the Canon EOS Rebel T2i. I invested in this to provide a supplementary video camera. We have found that the dslr does some things better than my HD video camera and a few not quite as well. The majority of my test footage is actually extremely good. Canon EOS Rebel T2i can take very beautiful video! There's a catch however; its very difficult to manipulate during filming. Zooming, focus tracking, and altering exposure are all almost impossible to do smoothly when recording video because it is simply not set up to be a dedicated camcorder. Sound recording is passible for casual recording but not quite fine enough for specialized work.

A Brief Look At Cappadocia Turkey And Nearby Sites

By Elizabeth Burns

Travel magazines abound with information on events, festivals and unique tour spots in Cappadocia Turkey. The volcanic landscapes of this country delude you into thinking perhaps you went a bit too far on your journey. The mountains, with their many caves-turned-homes, stand tall and proud like sentinels.

If you are planning a trip to Cappadocia from the United States, you can leave from any city but will most certainly connect to a major departure city, such as Kennedy airport in New York, Newark airport in New Jersey, Chicago or San Francisco. There are many airlines flying out of the United States to Cappadocia. It is a very long flight with connections in places like Berlin, Munich or Toronto or maybe London. You will probably arrive in Ankara Turkey, the capital of Turkey and a very beautiful city in itself.

Flights are available leaving from Newark, New Jersey, JFK, New York and San Francisco, California, among others in the United States. Around the world, cities such as Toronto in Canada, Munich Germany and London England have flights that will get you to Ankara, Turkey. It wont be non-stop but you will arrive eventually. From there, there will be alternate transportation to carry you on to Cappadocia.

How about taking a visit to the painter cave churches of the many monastic valleys. Perhaps you will like a trip to the Ihlara Valley, a fabulous gorge, with a stream running through it. It is a beautiful site and the walls are pitted with cave churches and chapels. There are many cave hotels in the area and they are very popular. Gamirasu and Yunal Evleri are two of the most popular, but there are many in the area.

The Cappadocian area is mostly underground cities. These cities were originally built to protect the inhabitants from roaming, wild animals. They also protected them from troublesome neighbors. The tunnels were very narrow, barely wide enough for one person to pass. In times of emergencies, the tunnels were closed and the entrance was blocked by huge heavy stones. Many people lived in the underground cities. They had all they needed. Some areas with the underground cities are Nigde, Aksaray, Nevsehir, Kirsehir, Kayseri. The area was vast and no one really knows how many people lived in these underground cities nor how many cities there actually were.

From the height of a hot air balloon, the dream like panorama could be amazing. The terrain seemed to mirror the moons' surface in areas. The balloons are available mostly in months of April, May, June, July and August, when the winds are mild enough to be safe for this kind of travel. A champagne tribute was conducted at the beginning of each ride for luck.

Even most of the food is American type food, but when most tourists travel to a country, they want to savour the local cuisine. There are many restaurants in these areas, some having fireplaces and music playing in the background. These people are friendly and they serve wonderful food.

When travelers visit Cappadocia Turkey, there're so many places to tour and so many things to do it is often difficult to choose what to do or where to go. Be sure when you visit the area you allow yourself enough time to see all the beautiful places and be sure to take in all the history of the surrounding areas. Enjoy.

Golfing Holiday: Gold Coast Holiday Apartments For Tourists In Mermaid Beach Australia

By Cornelia Kenneally

Queensland's Gold Coast City (Queensland in Australia) is a top rated vacation destination for holiday makers from all parts of the world. This short article reviews a few of the attractions of the resort, and looks at some of the historical connections of the area. It also looks at two Gold Coast Holiday Apartments in the Mermaid Beach suburb which anyone visiting the area might consider staying in.

Gold Coast City is a resort area in the south eastern part of the state of Queensland. The state capital, Brisbane, lies just to the north beyond the Albert River. To the east is the Pacific Ocean, and to the west are the mountains of Australia's Great Dividing Range. The area called the Gold Coast Hinterland, which is popular with walker and bushwhackers is in the foothills of this range, and is a World Heritage Site (Lamington National Park protects this area). The coastline of Gold Coast city stretches for about 55 kilometres from the Albert River southwards towards the New South Wales border.

The area is justly famous for its sub-tropical, sunny climate, and for its surfing beaches. Another feature of the area is over 600 kilometres of man made and natural waterways. Many apartment complexes are found in attractive settings alongside these canals and waterways.

As well as surfing and swimming other sporting pastimes such as golf and tennis are popular with holidaymakers. There are forty golf courses in the area, and many hotels and apartment complexes have sports facilities such as tennis courts. There are also four national sports teams based in Gold Coast: ice hockey, rugby league, basketball and football (soccer).

The Mermaid Beach suburb is named after a British ship, HMS Mermaid. John Oxley, the explorer, landed here in 1823. He also discovered the nearby Brisbane and Tweed rivers.

Oxley wasn't the first European to visit Gold Coast, Captain James Cook had sailed past in 1770, and had given a couple of ominous names (Mount Warning and Point Danger) to local landmarks near the mouth of the Tweed River, and Captain Matthew Flinders had charted along the coast in 1802. However the region was not inhabited by Europeans until Oxley landed at Mermaid Beach in 1823.

Nowadays there are many hotels and apartments in the area catering for holiday makers and other visitors.

In Mermaid Beach visitors could consider the Mermaid's Turtle Beach Apartments. Turtle Beach is a low rise complex, and it set in its own landscaped gardens. For relaxation there are a sauna, many pools and spas, and for activities there are tennis courts, a putting green and a gym. Turtle Beach Apartments are 400 metres from the beach and 2000 metres from the shopping centre (Pacific Fair Shopping Centre).

A nearby alternative is Shaz Maisons Mermaid Beach. This is a low rise, Mediterranean style building. It is just fifty metres from life guard patrolled Nobby Beach, and is near to several other beaches. Jupiter's Casino, the Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, lively nightlife, and restaurants and cafes are all nearby.

An Overview Of The Film American Beauty

By May Norton

One of the best films in the last twenty years was American Beauty. This emotionally charged drama won 5 Oscars in 2000. The big star Kevin Spacey also won an Oscar for his starring role.

The story line is about a family in turmoil with everyone struggling with who they are. It is a small family consisting of a couple and their lone child, a teenage daughter. The movie chronicles their battles with each other and themselves.

Kevin Spacey plays the father Lester, and he is going through a mid-life crisis. He hates his job, his family hates him, and he is simply bored with life. His wife Carolyn is always criticizing him, and his teenage daughter Jane is rebelling against her parents. She is disgusted by how they behave.

His wife Carolyn is all about the money. She acts like a bitch, and is always disapproving of both Lester and their daughter Jane. She is also having an affair with a married man who is a real estate agent like she is also.

Jane is the rebellious teenager who is searching for her own identity. Her best friend is one of the high school beauties who is really a phony. Her beauty intimidates Jane, who feels like no one will ever love her.

Eventually Lester "loses it" at work and quits his job. He gets a good severance pay because he knows some bad things the company has done. He leaves his job and finds work at a fast food place. He also starts working out, and smoking marijuana too.

Jane meets Ricky, the new kid in the neighborhood, and they become close. He is weird and also has a dysfunctional family. This seems to bond the two of them together.

I won't give away how things turn out so you will be able to enjoy watching the movie. This movie is a must see and the acting is simply outstanding. American Beauty is one of the new classics.

Why are Gibson guitars such a popular brand of guitars?

By Adriana Noton

Some brands of guitar stick out in the minds of musicians of all types. For cars the list is Lamborghini, Porsche, and Ferrari. Amongst guitars, Gibson brings this kind of quality to mind. And you don't need the most expensive guitar in the line to get the quality you'd expect from such a brand. This is true for a lot of reasons.

Gibson guitars have a classic look. An instrument needs to perform, and obviously a Gibson does, but for many people the look of a Gibson is alluring. The tunings pegs have a vintage style and shape, the colours (especially the different "bursts") are simply stunning, and the company has produced so many quintessential guitars for various genres that the image of a Gibson has come to be one of the first images people summon in their imagination when they think of the company. This is true in acoustic playing with the J-45, it's true of hard rock with the Gibson Les Paul's, and the old ES series is the archetypical jazz archtop. Seeing the guitars of legends in your own hands is a good feeling!

But there's a reason why knock off companies who produce guitars that look like the real thing don't clean up. A guitar must perform. For performers, a crowd will be unforgiving if your guitar won't keep tune, and nobody wants to tune it between songs. For beginners, it's easy to believe you're not playing well in the elementary stages if you hear cacophonous sounds coming from your strings, and this can be disheartening; even if you're playing right, you don't have the ear to determine that your guitar is out of tune and it's not the fault of your inchoateness. Also, Gibson guitars are precisely crafted so the strings and the neck are perfectly parallel. This is of the utmost importance to a player as ideally the strings are of equal distance along the entire length of the neck. Guitar necks are given to warping, and in cheap instruments this can happen more than you'd like!

Finally, the reason why guitars are played in the first place: the sound. For this there is no substitute. To the untrained eye guitars might look the same, but hearing the two one after the other is no contest. Whether it's their vintage acoustic guitars or their new digitally tuned guitars these guitars sound classic! They are known for their deep, well rounded tone. The arch-tops have a thick but warm, mellow sound that's ideal for chording or soloing. The Les Pauls have a distinct crunch that other luthiers envy. The other reasons alone wouldn't be sufficient cause to explain Gibson's dominance in the field for so many decades.

The Gibson brand has become synonymous not just with the legends who play it, but with superiority in general. They have never cut corners to sacrifice the quality of their musical instruments. Their innovations over the years have been appreciated by pros and novice's alike, and it's no wonder that for so many years people have purchased their guitars.

Getting Reliable Tips for the Big Horse Races Online

By David Gately

The horse racing season always stirs up a lot of excitement and this year is no different. The race track in Melbourne has been buzzing well before the Cup and Sydney's track is right there with it. Racing fans are once again looking to the internet for tips on the big races. The experts at OZ Racing Form have been on an astonishing run, with right around 85% accuracy with their top picks at the track.

Picking a winner involves much more skill than choosing a favored horse repeatedly. Betting on the favorite will not generate big returns, so it takes a crafty pick to make anything less than a large sum of money equal a real prize. If you have the right information, you can take an educated guess.

For the horse racing fan, getting reliable tips isn't a simple proposition. With several racing form websites, you will encounter a computer as the expert picker. It takes a good deal of interpretation to head to the track in Sydney or Melbourne with some winners in hand. What a computer can miss -- and what a keen human observer can see -- are many times the difference between winners and losers.

The horse track can be a daunting place in the beginning, with a lot of figures to interpret and a lot of confusing results to process. Getting the advice of a seasoned pro will put you at ease and give you the confidence to show up at the track with a plan -- or, to wager off-track with a sense of purpose.

Few times of the year are quite as exciting as the period leading up to the Melbourne Cup. With the eyes of a nation glued to one race track, just about everyone has an idea about who's going to finish first. It's one thing to guess, but it's another thing altogether to lay your hard-earned money on the line based on someone's prediction. Do you want to take a chance on an electronic brain?

The worst part about trusting a racing form with limited information is that you never learn anything. You might get lucky here and there, but you'll probably be stuck buying tips for years if you want to make some good bets. OZ Racing Form tips will provide extensive coverage on the potential of a horse, or why you should pass. You'll see what an insider's knowledge can do for you at the track.

You don't just waltz into the winners circle again and again using blind luck. David Gatley has proven he has the touch on TVN racing programs and brings that expertise to OZ Racing Forms. You won't be going out on a limb, with low prices to sign up and a money-back guarantee backing up the service.

OZ Racing Form has proven that it simply has an edge on the competition in horse racing tips. Whether it's by one length or more, that's for you to decide, but you never want to be left out of the winner's circle with inferior tips.

European Skiing Destinations

By Owen Jones

Europe is the birthplace of skiing. The first drawings of a skier were found in a cave in Nordland, Norway. The drawing has been dated at 5000 BC. Norway was almost certainly the home of skiing or what is known as Nordic Skiing anyway.

Alpine or downhill skiing probably comes from central Europe in the neighbourhood of Switzerland. There are so many skiing resorts in Europe that there is a fantastic number of slopes for every degree of experience.

You can ski in almost every country in Europe. The least well-known skiing resorts are almost certainly in Scotland, but they do have them and the most well-known resorts are in the French and Swiss Alps, which are essentially the same place, but they span two different countries.

The French and The Swiss alps are the most commercialized for luxury and are also the most costly. Not far east from there is Austria which, although less well-known is also an attraction for skiers from Eastern Europe.

If you would like to go skiing at a more affordable rate go to Italy up on the Swiss border. There you will get practically the same skiing conditions as in the French and Swiss Alps but with Italian food and language, which means less English is spoken though, if you see that as a disadvantage.

Approximately the same cost is Andorra which is Catalan (Spanish to you and me, but not to them). Andorra sits in the Pyrenees Mountains with borders on France and Spain. The Spanish influence is the greater of the two. Skiing in Andorra is renowned for its teaching. It is a fantastic place to learn skiing or to take the family.

If you want to visit a rising star in the skiing firmament, try Croatia. Skiing in Croatia is also among the most reasonably priced in Europe. The facilities are excellent, but local wages are low which keeps the costs down. The food is delicious and so is the wine, though not maybe a match for French, Italian or Spanish cuisine.

Bulgaria is another rising location on the skier's map. Skiing is not well commercialized in Bulgaria but the locals have been skiing for centuries, it is merely that they are only just beginning to learn how to commercialize it. The locals are friendly, but do not expect much English to be spoken.

We must not forget the home of skiing, Norway and the rest of Scandinavia. Expect top class amenities in Scandinavia with top class prices to match. The locals are very friendly, but may not speak English. The food is more probable to be local as well. You are more likely to find decent skiing conditions all year round in Scandinavia as well.

There are so numerous skiing resorts in so numerous European countries, that if you wished to, you could organize a skiing tour of Europe. If you wanted to ski in Scandinavia and Andorra, you would have to fly, but you could do the Swiss, French and Italian Alps. Or Austria and Bulgaria or Bulgaria and Croatia.

A Review Of Gritty Film Paths Of Glory

By Andre Moore

Paths of Glory was originally written as a novel by Humphrey Cobb, a story which would turn into one of the greatest war movie classics made in the 50's. Considered to be one among the most potent movies directed by Stanley Kubrick, this black and white close up at the politics of war has had audiences cringing for nearly half a century. Based on the French army's efforts against the Germans during World War I, the movie takes a different turn then most war stories, examining the enemy from within, rather than those outside.

The plot begins with a proposed addition of another star to a general's rank, and a suicidal plan for attack against the Germans to attempt to please the public. Without regard to practicality, the French General Staff orders an attack on a highly fortified area to boost public morale after a long stalemate with the enemy. Their brash decision puts a weakened and worn-torn regiment at risk with no back up, and no time to prepare. And so begins a recipe for disaster.

The film takes a subtle, and realistic by today's standards, approach to the telling of a war story. The characters drive the plot forward without prompt from the external enemy, but rather from the inhumane judgments and justifications of their own seats of power. A depth exists in every private, general, and rank in between, along with the interactions between them. This is why the movie is a popular choice for teachers to assign their students to analyze and write about it for critical thinking.

Despite the colonel's best efforts to rally his troops and fulfill the order given by the general, everyone in the company feels a looming sense of failure. Made concrete by the quick slaughtering of just about every man who leaves the trench, many stay behind, positive there is no way to win. The observing general then accuses the regiment of cowardice, and three men are chosen to take the blame for the French failure. The judgment that ensues is the main motivation for the story, and just like the attempted attack, takes the characters down a dark journey in which no one can see a light at the end.

Though black and white footage may simply appear to be a technical limitation of the past to many who see an older film, it is still a respected medium for its drama and contrasting power. The emotional pull of the scenes in Paths of Glory are masterfully integrated with the lighting, darkness playing into the emotion of fear and anger, patchy light mixed with dark to portray doubt and suspense, and bright white to reveal the overly clean and opulent.

One technical issue that many in today's audience may notice is the tendency of the characters to pace around the room during thoughts and speech, sometimes to an unrealistic extreme. The reason for this is to keep the feeling of motion alive while characters are set in lengthy conversations. With the limited ability to move the camera itself due to the touchy nature of lighting at the time, shot diversity depended on the actors' theatrical movements and gestures to stay interesting.

By following the story of three soldiers doomed to death by their superiors for unjust causes, the French and many other European countries banned the movie for many years before cultural policies on such material loosened. Film critics acclaim it as the first challenger to the idea that war is completely honorable and glorious. The ironic and emotional journey the plot takes leave audiences with both warnings and questions about those in power, and the motives behind making enemies out of those who should be allies.

Paths of Glory was highly critically acclaimed, though its box office profits were minimal. The moral behind the story lingers on with relevance as questions of human sacrifice for the sake of political war is more heavily disdained as generations pass. The movie is often used today as a critical thinking and discussion tool for English classes and Film classes alike, sharing the universal challenge of fate and orders for a long time to come.

Men's Fashion - Tips For Looking The Part On Your Next Beach Vacation

By Mark Walters

It's never too early to start planning for your summer vacation, right? Especially when you look out of the window, see grey skies and find yourself distracted by dreams of sunshine. So what should you take with you on your summer break? One item that's really important is your sunglasses. They're only small, so easily forgotten but, at the same time, easy to stash away in your luggage. Go for a big pair that will protect your eyes from the glare as well as the sun.

You should also make sure to take a selection of T-shirts with you. Tees are great for use as cover-ups on the beach if you can feel yourself burning in the sun, as well as being useful if you're heading off to a bar or restaurant. Take a selection of colors with you so you can mix and match your outfits, but be careful not to wear anything that clashes with the amazing tan you're sure to get. Go with loose, breathable fabrics like cotton to stay cool.

Another key item you should make sure to pack in your suitcase is a pair or two of board shorts. These will serve you well whether you're spending the day chilling on the beach or if you're off out on a day trip to do some exploring. They're generally made out of a breathable fabric that also folds up really small, meaning they'll fit easily into your luggage. Knee length shorts are especially trendy and they can double up as bathing shorts, helping you save room in your luggage.

You might think it's only women who have need of multiple pairs of shoes, but it can be a good idea to take a couple of pairs with you on vacation. They shouldn't take up too much room in your suitcase, though, so don't worry. The two main shoes you should take are sturdy sandals and casual flip flops, which will cater to all your needs. Flip flops are great for the beach or casual exploring on vacation, while sandals are great if you're planning on walking any distance.

Another item you should definitely take with you is a long-sleeve casual shirt. More than one can be a good idea, especially if you have fair skin that needs to be protected from the sun. It's always an idea to have something to cover your shoulders and choosing a light color such as white or pale blue will help to reflect the sun and keep you cool, even when wearing long sleeves. These shirts will also be great if you find yourself out for a formal meal.
