Pour your favorite lotions, shampoos, and soaps into the small bottles, before you put them in your bags.

Always make sure you have somebody taking care of your house while you are traveling. You want to also ensure you leave all of your contact info with them in the event of an emergency. They will need to make sure they've got some way of talking to you in case something goes wrong.

Avoid eating any foods that haven't been cooked while you're traveling in another land. This means avoiding salads and raw vegetables, as well as any fruits with thin skins like apples, plums, or pears. If you want to have a fruit, stick with something with thick skin like a banana, orange, or coconut.

Of course you'd like to take a bunch of gifts back to the people you adore. This takes up much time from your trip and much bag space on the way home. Just a tip: Enjoy your trip, and do not spend all of your time shopping for people that are not on the trip with you.
