The South America Travel Destinations Not To Miss

When planning a vacation, many people forget that South America travel destinations offer many of the best places to visit. In most locations, the official language is Spanish, but in Brazil, Portuguese is spoken. In addition, there are two small countries where the native language is French. Regardless of when or where you visit, you are sure to see some memorable sites.

Rio de Janeiro has beautiful white sandy beaches along with a vibrant nightlife. Rio is an excellent place to plan a relaxing vacation. While many want to see the inspirational Christ the Redeemer statue, others come to enjoy the sun of Copacabana.

Buenos Aires, known as the Paris of the Southern hemisphere also has much to offer. Visitors can find many charming locations. There are plenty of kid-friendly attractions along with Parisian style cafes. Take in some of the exciting sporting events. During the fall and spring, the room rates are very affordable.

Cusco was at one time the capitol of the Inca Empire. Toda, it is often the home base of individuals wanting to follow the ancient trail of the Incas to Machu Picchu. The hike has several different versions, some easier for those who are not in the best physical shape. Lesser known attractions include an extensive Pre-Columbian museum along with the Cusco Planetarium.

Argentine Patagonia offers captivating scenery for every traveler. The Lake district offers glistening peaks and the Southern Patagonia has rustic cattle ranches. Punta Tombo offers up close looks at the Magellan penguins. Although not as popular as some of the other locations, the trip can be quite enchanting.

While many visit Costa Rica for the wonderful beach vacations there is also much more to see and do. Rainforests and volcano are interesting for visitors as is the vibrant culture. Still, Costa Rica is an excellent choice for a vacation to relax. The cream colored sands of the Nicoya Peninsula can make it hard to leave.

Chilean Patagonia is a windswept area that has caught the attention of people like Charles Darwin as well as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. It allows visitors to take horseback rides across unexplored frontiers, raft and enjoy beautiful scenery. It is also a great place to enjoy local wines and wonderful seafood dinners.

Belize is home to many beautiful beaches where powdery sand meets turquoise water. Visitors can see many of the ancient Mayan ruins. Additionally, a visit to the local wildlife sanctuary allows them to see toucans and jaguars.

The Galapagos Islands became famous after Darwin published his works and remain home to many great animals such as the tortoises, seals, lizards and penguins. There are many areas on the islands that are virtually undisturbed by humans. Be sure to budget for the trip as it is more expensive than other locations.

In addition to these locations there are many other South America travel destinations to consider. They offer an excellent place to escape the blues of winter from the Northern Hemisphere. Travelers will find that the weather here is warm when snow blankets their yards at home.
