When going on a trip it is important to gauge the length of your stay and compare it with what you are packing. If you are going to be flying this is especially important because many airlines now charge baggage fees. In order to avoid baggage fees try to fit everything in your carry on for a short trip.

Traveling with groups can be frustrating to say the least. Who wants to miss their flight because one or more member of the group can't be located. One solution is to make everyone wear the same color of brightly colored t-shirts or maybe even visors that can be take off once you are in the air.

When traveling, keep all of your medications in the containers they came in from the pharmacy. Though it might be more convenient to travel with a pill box, keeping meds in their original containers will save you time at security. It also easily allows a physician to see what medications you are taking in the event of an emergency.

When deciding to travel by car with children, have a portable DVD player or an built-in DVD player in your vehicle. This can make a really long trip appear much shorter to them and it can keep them distracted so that they don't start misbehaving because they become bored or impatient.

Make sure that when you are traveling on long flights, to stretch your legs as often as possible. The majority of trips are going to be cramped, as you will want to make sure that you do not get sore during the flight. If possible, take a walk to and from the bathroom to get exercise.

When you are traveling, do not throw out any of the brochures or visitor guides that you accumulate on your journey. When you get home, cut them up into words and phrases. Use the slips of paper in your scrapbook as a way to accent the pictures that you took on your vacation. They will help you remember details about your trip years later.

If you will be driving to your destination, fill a family member or friend in on your destination and planned route to get there. If something were to happen to you while driving, this person would be able to alert officials of your intended destination and the roads you would have been traveling on.

To get special treatment from hotel staff, make a note of their names. Addressing the staff by their name gives your interactions with them a personal touch, and will leave them wanting to go the extra mile for you. You should also be sure to be polite and pleasant whenever you talk with them.

Visiting local wineries can be a fun, convenient, and inexpensive trip. Research your state's wine industry to discover destinations you may never have even heard of! Tasting fees in many wine regions are often inexpensive and may include a winery's entire selection. Depending on where you live, it may also be possible to visit several wineries in a single day trip.

When driving a long distance, be sure to stop to rest and stretch occasionally so that you do not become drowsy or cramped.
