Tenerife's La Playa de Las Americas, and How We Had a Good Time in the Place

By Willoughby Jackson

Tenerife has always been a place that my friends and I have wanted to visit. And just recently, we were finally able to book our flights and hotel accomodations to Tenerife. With all of that taken care of, we set out for our holidays to Tenerife with high spirits and great anticipation.

Looking back at it now seems hilarious. We were so excited that some of us were not able to sleep, and a few slept only a couple of hours on the way. Festive mood surrounded the entire airplane right after we landed in Tenerife. Excitement was so thick in the air as most of those on the plane with us were in Tenerife for the first time, too. Stepping out of the plane and into terra firma in Tenerife, we felt like we could not wait until we dipped ourselves into the ocean. The sun was high when we landed, and we did not want to wait any longer. But we needed to make a stop at the hotel.

Honestly, we entered into a long argument before we decided on the hotel that we would be checking in to. Nevertheless, everyone agreed that we will sample the Villa Cortes in Tenerife's Playa de Las Americas area. It's a Mexican-themed resort with 151 rooms. The hotel features five bars and had five restaurants. When we arrived, we treated ourselves to a full course that was excellently prepared by a very competent chef and his staff. We all thought to ourselves, ?This is the life!? We knew right there that we were in for a treat, for the whole week that we would be spending in Tenerife!

Now, we had selected the Playa de Las Americas because of its party all night atmosphere. We are not party animals by heart, but even we know that it would be an unfinished holiday if people did not sample a destination's night life. For the five days we spent in the Playa, we always ended the day with a night cap at one of the bars in the Veronicas along with good music and great people. It was basically one whole week of partying, food and socializing with locals and fellow tourists alike.

Last but not the least, we made the most out of the beach. Do you know the beach was just a few minutes by foot from our hotel room in the Villa Cortes? If we wanted to take a dip in the cool waters of the Atlantic, we simply step out from our hotel room and walk to the beach. It means that there were only a few minutes between us and the beach if ever the wish rises in us to take a swim or work on our tan.

Playa de Las Americas, of course, is not the sole attraction that Tenerife has to offer the holidaymakers like us. Check out this recommended site for attractions to Tenerife if you want to learn more about this island in the Canaries. You need a lot of information when organizing your luxury holidays to Tenerife 2013. However, when you are there, your concern should only be having fun and enjoying your holiday.
