How to Make Camping Meals Quick and Easy

By Kim Kerris

Camping is a great way to take a quick and simple getaway that can be relaxing and stimulating simultaneously. One thing that can add work and tension to an outdoor camping excursion is usually meals.

The Disadvantage of Camping Meals:

Food preparation tasks can take a great deal of effort and be lengthy when you consider the time and work associated with buying food, packing it, storing it, carrying it, cooking it and lastly cleaning up after you are finished with your meal. For some people, this contributes to the enjoyment of outdoor camping, but for others, it is not enjoyable.

If you are the type of camper who enjoys hiking in the woods, fishing in the lake, climbing rocks or cycling on the trails, you might not want the additional work of getting ready for meals. Furthermore, you might not have the space in your vehicle for a camping stove, a big cooler and other cooking materials - not to mention the food itself.

The Simple - But Possibly Not So Great Solution:

Obviously, you could consume dry goods and packaged snacks that require no preparation. For lots of people, however, this is not an ideal choice. They prefer more nourishing food and warm meals.

The Good News:

Here is good news. You do not have to put up with the cooking headache if you want to enjoy gourmet dishes. You can get pre-packaged dishes that offer you the nutrients you want and the warm dishes you are looking for without the work involved in preparing dishes.

Dishes Done for You:.

Pre-packaged dishes have come a long way. There is a lot of selection and healthy products to pick from. Besides being easy and fast to prepare, they are also remarkably economical and take up very little space when you are packing your car.

These dishes generally are available in compact single serving bags, so you don't have to hassle with huge jars or boxes. Sometimes, you could even eat your food straight from the food container. This does away with the requirement for most dishes, which can be particularly good for people who are backpacking. You do not need to pull out the pots and pans to prepare food, and of course there are no dishes to wash either.

Another benefit to free-dried dishes is that they keep for years. This means that you can purchase your food before your camping vacation and simplify the process and time it involves to do your food shopping and packing. This element alone can be a big motivator for people to take more outdoor camping trips.

Your Choices:

You can get a complete meal in a bag, such as lasagna or beef stew. Nevertheless, if you just want dehydrated vegetables and fruits or soup mix, you can do that also. As I mentioned above, there is a big selection. In addition, there are a wide array of packs you can get which will save you cash and permit you to eat different items at each meal.
