Sites To Visit In The Beautiful Dominican Republic

By Claudio Wikle

Christopher Columbus imagined that he was seeing a hidden paradise when he saw the Dominican Republic. No wonder - it's a gorgeous island and it has its share of exciting and fun attractions.

The Dominican Republic has a vast amount of history and culture associated with it, making it a great vacation destination. Today the island is a very popular vacation spot, with resorts on almost every part of the island.

Tourists love the golf courses on the island, as well as the tours through wilderness, cigar factories, and distilleries. Visiting the island, you'll find that you can find some amazing deals in the malls.

There are several regions in the Dominican Republic, and some of them have been developed into destinations for vacationers. Punta Cana is located on the Eastern part of the island, and is now one of the most-visited vacation spots on Earth.

Punta Cana boasts miles of beautiful beaches with unique resorts, and the prices are reasonable enough that many families can afford them. Punta Cana has so many resorts that it's difficult to count them.

Puerto Plata is another very popular vacation spot, located on the north side of the island. It also hosts many all-inclusive resorts, with many of them sitting close to the beach. Thus these resorts, such as Playa Dorada, are popular with surfers and wind surfers.

La Romana is located on the southeast region of the Dominican Republic. It boasts a museum filled with artifacts from the natives and a ferry that brings passengers to Catalina Island. There are a few all-inclusive resorts in La Romana, but there aren't nearly as many as in Punta Cana and Puerto Plata.

Santo Domingo is the capital of the Dominican Republic. It's also the oldest city in America, and has the oldest cathedral in the New World. As such, there are many historical sites to see in the area, and it offers its own all-inclusive resorts as well.
