Gorilla In The Rainforest

A remote pocket of rain forest inside Bwindi Impenetrable National Park inside the southwest of Uganda houses fifty percent of the world's populace regarding endangered mountain gorillas. The Bwindi Park is now the most famous spot for gorilla safaris in Uganda and it has been announced a World Heritage Site. This particular park comprises of about 200 square miles of dense rainforest as well as dense jungle vegetation - a perfect home for your mountain gorillas.

The other park that offers fantastic opportunities for Uganda safaris is definitely the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. This particular park is found on the extreme southwest corner of Uganda on the slopes of the Virunga Mountains which also border Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Irrespective of which park you go to, gorilla treks inside Uganda gives you a once in a lifetime experience. The excitement involved with trekking in the thick vegetation while you track the Uganda gorillas is one never soon to be forgotten. In your forest paths; it's also possible to come across a few of the other natural inhabitants of the region, such as diverse bird varieties, chimpanzees, golden monkeys, bush buck, duiker and perhaps even leopard.

The search through the dense rainforest can take anything from 1 hour to 4 hours, based on the place that the Uganda gorillas like to move to on that certain day. Whilst they do have daily routines, they are continuously on the go looking for food, so do not really stay very long in a single certain place, except if it's to sleep for the night.

Trips to the family groups of gorillas are generally available to 8 people for every group and the visit normally lasts one hour. The trek can be quite demanding, but as soon as you come into close proximity with these gentle distant relatives of ours, the labours of your journey are soon forgotten. Sitting in quiet observation of the Uganda gorillas as they simply set about their day to day life, playing, eating and caring and bringing up their young, this is a truly wonderful experience.
