Gains Of Choosing A Hotel Near To Public Transport Links

By Claude Glenda Knapp

While most major cities of the world have good public transport systems, cheap London hotel is particularly well served. It boasts one of the most extensive underground railway systems, as well as an enviable system of overground trains and numerous buses. There are not many parts of this huge metropolis that do not have access to buses or trains.

Where a neighborhood is not within a short walk of the underground, chances are it is served by at least one bus route. Most areas are also served by night buses. These run through the night after the underground trains have closed down until the morning.

One of the main reasons for travelling on public transportation is because London is a rubbish city in which to drive. There are no such things as city blocks because the town developed in a hodge podge manner. This can be frustrating to Americans, who are accustomed to their towns being neatly laid out in grid formation. Streets are also much narrower than what they are used to. There are complicated one-way systems and congestion charging zones. Parking is also a problem.

It is also not as easy to get lost when travelling on public transport as it is when you are juggling a map behind the wheel of the car, probably on the 'wrong' side of the road. Forward planning is a good idea, but if you put a foot wrong while en route, it is easy to find a local who can put you right.

Locating yourself close to transport links saves a lot of time on your journey. This also means a shorter walk in the foul whether for which London is famous. Just take a few steps outside the building and you are on your way.

Not having to be constantly vigilant about where you are going means that you can get yourself ready for that important business meeting or just catch up on your reading. Morning and evening newspapers are free. Electronic books are also becoming a common site on buses and trains.

London's 21st Century buses offer many technological assets. There are recordings that tell passengers where the next bus stop is. This takes the guesswork out of when to disembark. Furthermore, many of the new rolling stock is equipped with hydraulic lifts so that the driver can gently move the bus closer to the ground, making it easier for the elderly, mothers with buggies, wheelchair users and children to climb aboard and to disembark when they reach their destination.

One of the best benefits of taking the bus from your kings cross hotel london is the opportunity for sightseeing. If you are driving, you have to concentrate too hard on where you are going and not running into anything. The underground railway is extremely fast and efficient, but the view outside the windows, one black, sooty wall after another, is somewhat uninspiring. Double decker buses, either enclosed or open topped, give the traveller an interesting perspective on the city. Moreover, not having to drive means it is possible to sample some of London's great pubs and well-kept ales!
