Choosing Suitable And Pocket Friendly Ski Condos

By Adriana Noton

As soon as the first flakes of snow start to fall, ski enthusiasts eagerly hit the slopes and swish away on their skis. Ski condos are therefore in high demand during winter. Hobby skiers and professionals all get out there to indulge in the sport before spring breaks through to take away the piles of snow.

As there is only a short window of a specific season when skiing can be done, it is high season almost immediately. Making bookings early is therefore important. This is particularly important in the spots that are favorites and those where tournaments are hosted.

Some skiers have favorite spots they visit every year and they make their bookings for the coming year as they leave. One advantage of this is that good discounts are offered for booking that far in advance. Some places also have a loyalty award scheme where guests get points as they spend and they can redeem the points against accommodation charges.

One of the determining factors is cost. Look at a number of options before settling on one. Some offer basic amenities while others are more luxurious and have a warm swimming pool, a spa, a club house with a bar and restaurant, shops nearby and other amenities. You can enjoy lowered rates if you book early as rates rise during the high season. Most places conveniently have online booking facilities.

While one must stay within what is manageable in terms of cost, needs must be addressed as well. If there are young ones or other beginners in the group, ensure there are both learning slopes for them and challenging trails for you. If there is equipment that you need to hire, check that it will be available at your chosen location. Perhaps you wish the family pet to accompany you. If so, check that this is allowed.

If it is a family vacation, check that the facilities will adequately cater to the needs of everyone. Not every spot is ideal for young children for example. Families may be better off renting private ski condos. Some owners do rent out their condos and this works out cheaper than a stay at a resort.

There is more privacy and more flexibility in the amenities and their use. The family can for instance prepare the meals they want and when they want. The kitchens are usually well fitted with gadgets and appliances. Entertainment facilities are also provided; cable TV, DVD players and stereos are standard. Wi-Fi internet and phones are also available. A fireplace is included in some of them and in some units, barbecue grills as well.

Once a definite choice has been made and you are in search of ski condos, the other factor that you need to consider is the conditions. You need to know that the ratio of different skiers and the base snow levels. It is also worth it to take a look at the reviews other guests have left to be sure you are headed to a place where you will have a stay you can look back on with fond memories.
