Learning The Basics Of Basketball

You want to be an excellent basketball and practice continuously but your efforts seem to go to naught, then maybe you need the help of some basketball training gear.

Shooting

A bigger basketball. This is about 3 inches bigger than the basketball used in regulation games. The hoop will be smaller when you shoot this larger ball, so your aim should get better.

Board-less hoop Without a backboard, you will be forced to aim straight for the hoop, again improving your accuracy.

Rebounding apparatus Saves you time recovering the ball after each shot so you get to shoot more.

Shooting straps. With this gadget attached to the shooting hand, the shooter is taught the correct form when making an attempt, making the right follow through move and teaches the basics of the one-hand release.

Dribbling Dribbling aid. You are supposed to dribble not with the palm but with the finger tips, and this device will teach you how. It also helps improving your passing and shooting skills.

The basketball goggles. Basketball basics tell you not to look at the ball when dribbling. The goggles block your lower vision so that you practice on not looking at the ball. Speed

Speed parachute. The parachute will provide resistance when the player is running. After getting used to running with the parachute, the player will become faster and quicker when running without one. Speed runners and football players also use speed parachutes in training.

Agility ladders. The agility ladders will help hone up eye-foot coordination, quick-stepping moves and versatility. You can also practice with your ladder at home.

Vertical jump

The jump boxes Help you improve your jumping ability and overall strength. The boxes can be made progressively higher to increase lower body strength.

The weight belt. The added weight makes the person stronger and a high leaper, an advantage in rebound plays and when jump shooting at the perimeter. There are also weights worn on the ankles and works the same way.

Jump soles. The jump soles are attached to the practice shoes of the player, and also helps him to develop stronger leg muscles and a higher jump.

Staying power

The jump ropes. Are the most basic and probably the cheapest basketball training aids you can have. It has many uses also. Jumping ropes is good for the heart. Jump ropes also improve your calf and leg muscles. There are weighted versions ideal for heavy workouts.

Players must not be misled into believing that the gadgets are guaranteed success. They, by themselves, will not make you a better player. With the various training aids available to you, there is no reason why you cannot be a better and improved player so long as you continue your training and love for the game.
