Discover Biblical Sites on the Cheapest Egypt Holidays

By Steve Alexander

Soaking up the rays and delighting in the sapphire seas is what many people enjoy on holidays to Egypt. Whilst you're there though, be sure to stop and take in the long view across the water. Just a short journey away from the Holy Land and the fascinating cities where Christianity and other world religions began is the paradise of Sharm el Sheikh, which is a key location for some of the best and cheapest Egypt holidays.

Make the most of some of the cheapest Egypt holidays and team your Red Sea experience with a journey to the heart of Christmas. A short distance from the attractive resorts of Egypt's coast, you can find the beautiful cities of Jerusalem and Bethlehem.

The fascinating monument of the Wailing Wall can be found in the heart of the old city and devoted followers of the Jewish religion press themselves against the stones in prayer here. An important site for Muslims is the glittering golden site of the Dome of the Rock. Built over a stone believed to be the place from which the Prophet Muhammad ascended into heaven, is a magnificent temple.

The little town of Bethlehem is the place where Jesus is said to have been born. The town is a prosperous centre in the middle of a landscape of fertile hills ten kilometres south of Jerusalem. This cultural icon is an attractive destination year-round but is particularly popular at Christmas.

When the clock strikes twelve on Christmas Eve, religious tourists head to St Catherine's Church for the midnight mass service. Outside in Manger Square Christmas visitors enjoy a particularly festive atmosphere. Take a walk through the city's cobbled streets and feel ancient history all around. Meander off Manger Square to the Milk Grotto Chapel, said to have been visited by Mary and Joseph with babe in arms.
