Keeping Traditions Alive In Big Sky Montana

Situated near Yellowstone National Park, Big Sky is a little community, flanked with extraordinary vegetation worthy of several outdoor activities that entice travelers from around the world. Whether it be a great summer trip or a ski holiday in winter, Big Sky would be the perfect location for families, budget minded travelers, and even the solo traveler. Big Sky may be a tiny community, the fact is that it is smaller than a town, even so it does offer adequate activities and events to keep the vacationers entertained. Over the summer months, Big Sky features the Big Sky Classical Music Festival, the Brewfest plus the popular community event Big Sky Country Fair & Festival of the Arts that features gifted artisans from in and around the area.

Keeping traditions alive in Big Sky

In accordance with a LonePeakLookout.com story, Big Sky, Montana, shall be commemorating thirty-one years of the local community, its culture and art with the annual Country Fair & Arts Festival which takes place in July. This is one of the most pleasing annual community events in Big Sky and draws in a number of residents and other folks in and around Montana. Besides being entertaining, this fair, bundled with the Chamber of Commerce fundraiser, is also an attempt to support the fifty plus artisans and craftsmen within the area. Anyone, including residents as well as guests, can get involved in these special event activities.

The fair kicks off with the 5k run at 8 am in the morning, and competitors will need to signup by 7.30. This is followed by the parade that commences at 9.30 at Community Park and wraps up at the Town Center at 10 am. The special event also features 3 musical bands over the length of the day: Bluebird Sky, that is Big Sky's local bluegrass duo; Chase McBride, Montana born musician; and Paperbird, an indie-pop bluegrass group. You can also get a taste of the local flavor by obtaining handcrafted items made by local artisans and vendors, or just lay around in the grass while enjoying the music.

Eat and stay

There are not very many lodging selections in Big Sky, including a few motels and resorts. While a hotel with fair service may very well be just the thing for a budget minded individual, the resorts in Big Sky are very well suited for families who wish to spend their summer vacation here. The Lake Condominiums at Big Sky, one of the most luxurious bluegreen resorts, is located at the foot of Lone Mountain and overlooks Lake Levinski, which makes itan ideal vacation spot.

Enjoyable activities for Big Sky tourists

Folks planing a trip to Big Sky during the summer time can engage in a lot of outdoor activities that include horseback riding, hiking down the delightful trails throughout the area or the beautiful nature trails in nearby Yellowstone National Park, mountain biking and river fishing, rafting and kayaking. Tour operators in the area also provide day travel packages to the nearby Yellowstone National Park which is a must see. A number of resorts nearby also allow their guests to enjoy golf, and their indoor pools if the day is too warm to head out.
