Five Hints On How To Locate An Excellent Hotel In St Pancras

By Herbert Sutton Owen

Choosing Kings Cross hotels is difficult because of the sheer amount of choice you have. So how do you pick the right hotel? There are lots of methods including reading reviews and choosing a specific location. These five pointers should help you along.

Firstly, pricing which largely influences availability in Kings Cross and London. When big events are on, hotels are normally crammed with tourists looking for overnight accomodation. Hotels always put their prices up with increased demand. On the flip side though- you may find a bargain in quieter periods.

Once you have a clear idea of pricing and availability, you can compare the hotels that tick the box. For your shortlist of hotels, check their websites and the facilities they have. Listing these facilities for each hotel against each other should give you a good comparison on value for money. It's also worth considering some amenities are worth more than others. For example, would you not rather have a TV in your room than a trouser press? Or a bar rather than a garden? I suppose that really does come down to personal preference!

I personally find good staff make a hotel. Ringing hotel reception is a good test. While you are on the phone, you can learn about the facilities, and the staff. Polite, happy staff will make a stay a most enjoyable one.

Location is key for a hotel. Otherwise this defeats the purpose of staying in a hotel! Find a hotel located right near the tube if possible, for convenience. Using Google maps you can gage what attractions are nearby- bars, restaurants, theatres etc. Though if using a taxi isn't a bad option, then location isn't as important. Taxi transport is also much safer in the evenings.

Reviews make or break a hotel! Google should find you a sea of hotel review websites. Though they may be moderated, some hotels may have their own online guestbook. Asking friends if they have stayed in the area, particularly if you are in business is always a good idea. Don't always take word of mouth as gospel though. Some people find fault in anything!
